I’ve always been an advocate of placing memorial plaques for jagoffs who offed themselves on death row while furnishing them with extra bedsheets with which they could hang themselves. After a few years of looking at those plaques, they might get the idea to join them. No plaque if they wait for a clinical execution by the state.

Give them old style sailors hammocks to sleep in - saves a ton of space, with the ROPES tied to the HARDWARE FIXTURES in the CEILINGS. They can have a nice reading CHAIR to sit in under the hammock during the day.

Every single occupancy holding cell and every long-term prison cell should be equipped with a substantial hook or bar and a length of rope. That could save us hundreds of millions of dollars every year. That guy had to be fed and clothed for 16 years before ending it.
