If they were the types that are on most college cheer squads (burly, masculine dudes that lift and catch the girls as they flip and dismount from pyramids, or carry huge megaphones to lead the crowd) I would think it would be kind of cool.

Yahoo is obfuscating the issues as usual. There’s a difference between male cheerleaders dressed as men v transgenders dressed as women, but perhaps the fans aren’t concerned.
As you pointed out, the fact of male cheerleaders isn't the problem. You can have male cheerleaders and not a single football fan complain. You just can't do it by substituting male cheerleaders for female cheerleader dance routines as if they were one of the girls.

Very recently a female umpire was used for the first time in a Major League game. Gutfeld on Fox told a joke about it. Before she said Play Ball! she had to tell the managers about her day.
She missed the very first pitch, calling a ball six inches inside a strike.
If the male cheerleaders were like strong yell leaders lifting the women up in the air, that’s one thing. But these are gender dysphoric males prancing around in skirts. After Bud Light and the Election, how tone deaf, behind and stupid the NFL is.
I don't know who the announcer was or what game I was watching but the chick called an interception a pick six. One small problem. The dude didn't return it for a touchdow.
Her male counterparts didn't bother correcting her nor, apparently, did the director because she never corrected herself.
Is this male cheerleaders in the sense of gymnast guys throwing petite women into the air and catching them?
Or “male cheerleaders” in the sense of mentally-ill tranny dudes pretending to be women with long-hair and bad makeup?

My Texas college had a male cheerleader in the early 70’s. His main job was catching the girls when they jumped off the vertical “stacks”. They had two girls doing that before but they dropped the others about half the time. He looked gay when dancing with the others but no one said anything back then and he could catch the girls.
There’s a lot of male cheerleaders but it’s hard to call the NFL “cheerleaders” cheerleaders.
These are trans cheerleaders BIG DIFFERENCE.
These are trans females, nothing male about them.
Not trans female ones.
The NFL and Noosecar have gone full WOKE.

The latter. They are doing the same dance routine as the females. They are so gay they are about to catch on fire with all the hand movements and shakin their booty. They are making sure to put them at the front of the squad so you cant miss them. You just know what they sound like even though they are not talking.
