I know get mad at me, but a 14 or 8 year old can buy a 300% more caffeinated drink, at a local 7-11, than a cup of coffee in the 60's and 70's.

Just like pot now is 300% more powerful than it was in the 60's and 70's, at least the majority of state governments keep the age at 21 to purchase, unlike caffeinated power drinks.

Flame away.

Really crappy writing and presentation in this article. I was expecting a straightforward list of drinks ranked by caffeine content. I know that is too much to ask in this day of click-bait headlines.

After reading, and looking at their graphs, I still don’t know which coffee roasting and brewing method has the highest caffeine. At least it confirmed what I have been told, that Mountain Dew is the highest caffeine soda among the limited number they compared it to.

You can look up caffeine in soft drinks easy enough. IIRC, Barqs rootbeer has more caffeine than mt. Dew!

Sun Drop is also loaded. Met a woman giving her 4-5 y.o. a bottle of sundrop at DG. I had to tell her that's worse than mt. Dew! She looked at me with disgust for telling her what to give her kids.

I tried. You cant fix stupid. So let's caffeinate it!!!!

Saw high school kids - a LOT of them - drinking either Red Bull or one of its knock-offs every day for breakfast - lunch too. They’d buy it at the local convince store and bring it into the school.

So much caffeine in them put them to sleep by 4th period.

I can’t make any sense out of that first bar graph in the article—the one where they misspell caffeine.

Caffeine

We love our caffeine in the west. Just look at all those coffee memes out there about not hassling people until they’ve had their cup. It is the accepted, heck EXPECTED, addiction. He says while having his morning Dr Pepper (I don’t like hot drinks, but I still live on the big C).

### Notes:
- **Sources**: Data is primarily drawn from web sources like Caffeine Informer, Mayo Clinic, Nutrition Advance, and The Spruce Eats, ensuring accuracy and relevance.[](https://www.caffeineinformer.com/the-caffeine-database)[](https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/caffeine/art-20049372)[](https://www.thespruceeats.com/caffeine-in-coffee-tea-cola-765276)
- **Caffeine Variability**: Caffeine content varies due to preparation methods, bean/leaf type, brewing time, and serving size. For example, espresso has a higher concentration per 100 ml than brewed coffee, but typical serving sizes are smaller.
- **Serving Sizes**: The list standardizes caffeine content to mg per 100 ml for consistency, but actual consumption depends on serving size (e.g., energy shots are small but highly concentrated).
- **Caffeine-Free Options**: Many sodas like Sprite, Fanta, 7-Up, and most Canada Dry products contain 0 mg caffeine. Most herbal teas (e.g., chamomile, rooibos) are also caffeine-free, except yerba mate.[](https://www.thespruceeats.com/caffeine-in-coffee-tea-cola-765276)
- **Yerba Mate**: Included as a tea, with caffeine content around 9.7 mg per 100 ml for Guayaki Canned Yerba Mate (15.5 fl oz, 150 mg).[](https://www.thespruceeats.com/caffeine-in-coffee-tea-cola-765276)
- **Limitations**: Some niche brands or specific flavors may not be included due to lack of data in provided sources. If you want details on a specific beverage, let me know, and I can search further or estimate based on similar products.
- **Health Note**: The FDA recommends up to 400 mg of caffeine daily for most adults, but individual tolerance varies. Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals should limit intake to 200 mg or less.[](https://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/caffeine/art-20049372)

If you’d like me to expand on specific brands, add more beverages, or provide a breakdown by category (e.g., only sodas or teas), just let me know!

The goal shouldn’t be to ban everything someone is on a crusade against (example: DDT in the past).

Most of these household cleaning supplies, pest control chemicals, OTC drugs, even medical procedures have their merit. They simply need to be used correctly, responsibly, by an informed consumer.

OTC NSAID drugs are probably the number one cause of kidney disease, but you’re not to worried about that nor keep mentioning it: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8313037/

What we focus in on as dangerous or harmless is largely defined by our personal and cultural bias.

Booze kills more people than a lot of other things, but it’s acceptable:
https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/facts-stats/index.html#:~:text=Key%20points,of%20death%20in%20this%20country.

There needs to be a national effort on how products and procedures are labeled across the board.

Some of the most “safe” OTC drugs account for 56,000 ER visits and 500 deaths per year: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK441917/#:~:text=Acetaminophen%20poisoning%20is%20responsible%20for,these%20cases%20being%20unintentional%20overdoses.

People have no clue and when paying for a product or service and being impacted/affected by it, you have a right to know.

Example I had a shoulder replaced. The doctor briefly mentioned a muscle will be “released” in the procedure. That did not tell me that he’s cutting the muscle and NOT reattaching it (saves him 15 minutes and is allowed as a standard), making my shoulder NEVER to work properly again. So I now have a bum shoulder (unnecessarily) which also looks deformed, but am being told about the vast threat of marjuana once again. Unreal-

***The consumer has a right to truly be informed and needs to provide his consent. That’s the key.***

Beyond that, it’s not the governments job to think for the people. Besides, most of this “thinking for the people” is more hypocritical nonsense by folks that simply focus in on some issue they made into a personal moral crusade, but they would be pissed if someone where to go after what they like to do, use, go or say.

Stop trying to think for people. It’s a very progressive way of thinking and is inherently arrogant and hypocritical.

Am I reading that correctly that Diet Coke has twice the caffeine of Diet Pepsi?

And, there is no real list on this Nasami page.

Monster—160 mg. Others with 200 or 300 mg. caffeine— that is completely nuts.

2 a day—— direct path to Atrial fibrillation at a minimum. Jumpy? no headed for an arrhythmia event. High sugar is the vehicle for delivery in the drink. Rapid absorb.

The Nasami chart, one of them, spells caffeine as cafiene— distracting.

regarding coffee, is “first squeezings” measured.

Just because you have a number to 2 decimal points, doesn’t mean it is an accurate number.

I have always suffered with severe anxiety so I stopped drinking caffienated beverages. But I can’t break my love of chocolate, which contains caffeine.
