BRAVE AI:

2025 Hurricane Season
Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to become the first hurricane of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season by late Thursday, potentially intensifying into a major hurricane (Category 3 or higher) by early Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The storm, which formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean west of the Cabo Verde Islands, is expected to track westward and then northwest, moving over increasingly warm waters that will fuel its rapid intensification.
As of Tuesday, August 12, 2025, Erin is still far out at sea and not currently a threat to land, but its path and potential impacts on the U.S. East Coast, the Caribbean, or Bermuda remain uncertain and are being closely monitored.

Season Outlook: The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, which began on June 1 and runs through November 30, is projected to be above-normal. NOAA updated its forecast on August 12, predicting 13 to 18 named storms, 7 to 10 hurricanes, and 3 to 5 major hurricanes for the entire season.
This outlook is consistent with earlier predictions from NOAA and other agencies, which cited warm Atlantic waters and neutral El Niño conditions as contributing factors.
Current Activity: As of August 12, five named storms have formed in the 2025 season: Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dexter, and Erin.
None of the first four storms strengthened into hurricanes, but Erin is expected to become the first hurricane of the season.
The season’s peak activity typically occurs between mid-August and mid-October.
Potential Impacts: While Erin is currently not a direct threat, forecasters warn that its path and intensity will become clearer in the coming days.
The storm could bring rain and gusty winds to the northern Leeward Islands and potentially impact the U.S. East Coast or Bermuda as a major hurricane next week.
A separate low-risk area for tropical development is also being monitored off the coast of Africa.

Erin is a female storm, but I’m more worried about Karen when she comes along.

Windy.com is my go-to for hurricane season. Shows the track based on current and predicted conditions and currents. It will adjust one way or another as the days move on. Currently it's still showing passing off the coast between NC and Bermuda but a little west of midway.

The NWS is super excited because all of their claims of higher than average activity has been a joke. Here we are mid-August and we are only at the letter E and everything else has fizzled out.

It’s a little early to say that. Let’s see what happens with the rest of August, September, October, and early November.

Early storms tend to break right and miss the USA.

Erin looks like a fish, likely to veer northward, missing both CONUS and Bermuda. Watching.

Hopefully just a fish storm that sends a good swell all up and down the east coast

No, this is the fifth named tropical system in the Atlantic (“E”rin), and hurricane season doesn’t end till Nov 30. We haven’t even hit peak season, yet (around Labor Day). Though, I agree, each season is hyped as “the worst”.

Ugh, Hurricane season again. Fortunately it appears (last I heard) that Erin will head north, hopefully away from the US.

Hoping and praying for a quiet hurricane season....

Erin is expected to be a big, bad Category 4 over the weekend. Good for getting Hurricane Alley’s attention. Expected to thread the needle between US and Bermuda.
