6,000 years old Underwater Ruins Discovered off Cuba: A Lost City Older Than the Pyramids -- Or Be a Geological Oddity?

Recently, a mysterious discovery has resurfaced on social media, reigniting debates and curiosity worldwide: the so-called "lost city" said to lie beneath the waters off the coast of Cuba. More than 20 years ago, this underwater site first caught the attention of archaeologists and scientists, but it has remained largely unexplored since. Given the renewed interest online, we’ve taken a closer look at the international reports and expert opinions surrounding this fascinating -- yet still unconfirmed -- find that could potentially rewrite parts of human history.

In 2001, a Canadian research team reported finding massive stone structures deep beneath the ocean’s surface, suggesting the remnants of a once-thriving urban center. If confirmed, the site could be over 6,000 years old, making it about 1,500 years older than the Pyramids of Giza. But to this day, the mystery remains unsolved.

[these images are primitive, almost toylike, and nearly 25 years old. I think it’ll all turn out to be an artifact of the technology, IOW, natural formations that got dumbed down by the technology then in use, as the so-called "Face on Mars" turned out to be.]

This has been around a while. Arkeonews uses images from the Ancient Architects website, and I don't consider that a plus.

The rest of the vintage keywords ('paulinazelitsky' and 'paulinazelitzky'), sorted:

Ancient people must have had huge lungs to live in such cities, or gills.

I suspect that pic... the light is too bright and the shadows are too crisp unless, and only unless, that is a small model blurred to pass as city in true scale...

For a long as humans exist, we will never, ever run out of lost cities, alien pyramids, faces on mars, ancient astronauts, and lost civilizations.

AI Overview

The image depicts the “Lost City” Hydrothermal Field, a remarkable and unique underwater environment located deep in the Atlantic Ocean.

Oldest Known Hydrothermal System:

It is the oldest known active hydrothermal vent field in the ocean, estimated to have existed for at least 120,000 years.
Unique Structure:

The field is characterized by towering mineral formations, primarily composed of carbonate, which give it an “urban” appearance, hence the name “Lost City”.

Origin of Life Clues:

Scientists believe the extreme conditions within the Lost City, including its unique chemistry and high pH levels, may hold clues to understanding how life first emerged on Earth.

Unique Ecosystem:

Despite its deep-sea location, the Lost City supports a unique ecosystem of microbial communities that thrive in the absence of oxygen, utilizing hydrocarbons produced by the chemical reactions within the vents.

Conservation Efforts:

Due to its scientific significance and unique nature, some experts are advocating for the Lost City to be designated as a World Heritage site to protect it from potential threats like deep-sea mining.

I visited the site. I looked at the photos.

There’s no sense of scale. If those are supposed to be buildings on a scale for human habitation, then the water is deep, extremely clear, and the sunlight (or artificial light) remarkably broad in its luminescence.

I am skeptical to the point of disbelief. But interested to know more.

“Ancient people must have had huge lungs to live in such cities, or gills.”

During the last full-blown ice age the seas were much lower - some say 400’ lower. Our ancestors went through some serious climate change caused by the natural wobble of our planet.
