Iceland of all places has year-round tomatoes and vegetables thanks to greenhouses, hydrothermal heating, and UV lighting.

U.S.-grown tomatoes taste great. Mexican tomatoes are pretty to the eye but taste like cardboard.

That’s me. I do all my cooking at home. Except once a month. I go to my favorite hamburger joint drive in. 😎

Canada grows good hothouse tomatoes...plus eating when in season only makes sense.

I’m fine paying a bit more for tomatoes seeing as my hard earned tax payments no longer go to supporting illegals and their families.

there are no other kind to substitute?

No. They may be using San Marzano style and there is really no substitute.

At retail $5 for a 28oz can a 15% tariff is .75...hardly a deal breaker.

Bingo! I know a farmer who has a huge hydroponics green house. It's ultra modern, automated. He produces vine ripened luscious tomatoes year around. It's totally doable. His customers are all restaurants.

Most times I eat out, the experienced is ruined for:

Crappy service.
Dirty dish ware (lipstick on wine glass happens too often)
Poor quality food.
Way too expensive.

I make my own meals almost always now. My advice...get yourself a 8qt Ninja foodi. My chicken, beef stew, (fillintheblank) stew, air fried anything, is as good or better than the most of the places I consider very good restaurants. And a fraction of the price.

More exaggeration from the liberal press. We don’t know how much the cost of tomatoes will rise or how much of the tariff will be accepted by Mexican growers as a cost of doing business. Also, the cost of the ingredients is only a part of the cost of the meal. The labor costs of preparing the food, bringing it to the table, cleaning up the restaurant, etc, also are part of the cost of the meal. It is hard to specify how much the cost of one ingredient will affect the price that diners pay.

I grow tomatoes and romaine lettuce, and bake most of my own bread.
I had BLTs for dinner.
I had to buy the bacon and Mayo for the sandwiches.
But somehow I persevered through it all.
I toughed it out…

Stupidly, Our Town turned down a hydroponic tomato farm cuz the people said it wasn't really farming.

So they went 10 miles down the road..and that town got all the benefits.

The stupid thing is that our High School has their own little experimental hydroponic farm and grows the vegies for the school district.

I rarely eat tomatoes and only when I want to make myself a sandwich or burger with a tomato slice and lettuce, which isn’t very often. Half the time I end up throwing out part of a tomato that has gone moldy before I’ve eaten it all. I’ve never eaten at any of the other three venues they mentioned, and never would. I do all my cooking at home, and eat out once a month or less when I meet friends at the Indian casino near me...and I always order breakfast there.

Dear President Trump,

You know that Japanese fish that could kill you if you eat it?

Can you please put a tariff on that?

Thank you,

x
