I remember like yesterday when Dr. Paul called me into his Member office in 203 Cannon with a draft of his famous “What If” speech.
He had written it in his own hand and he asked me to go over it and clean it up a bit. Not unusual for how he writes: from the heart.
And afterward I spent a good deal of time in his office with a stopwatch making sure he could deliver it under the five minute rule. Shuffling the papers. What do we have to cut. Which paragraph could be spoken a bit faster.
I knew and understood at the time that it was a very special speech. No one as far as I know had ever done such a thing before on the Floor of the House.
It was incredibly innovative and made all the powerful points without being unnecessarily confrontational. It was meant to gain allies, not to punish adversaries.
Because that is how Ron Paul always thought when he was in Congress. The worst of them were not fools to be brought low, but potential allies awaiting the proper argumentation with the application of time.
“They’ll come around,” he said patiently.
And believe it or not, it worked more often than you might think. Being a fly on the wall as the organizer of his legendary Thursday Congressional Member lunches, I was privy to so many Members who would not dare say so in public but who dropped in for a couple of Gulf Coast shrimp and to tell Rep. Paul how right he was on the Iraq war and Afghanistan and the Fed etc.
The campaigns later on were so important and galvanized the Liberty Movement and sent it worldwide, but the kernel was planted in his unique and generous...

That "What If" speech (Video linked) was good and seminal but NOT my favorite...
I will share my favorite on his 90th birthday (20 August)
Keep an eye out
You are going to get ran out of here... Don’t you know everyone is supposed to absolutely hate Ron Paul with a passion or you are not part of the group think...
Perceptions change. He’s seen in a better light now
Mostly because he was proven correct!
“Mostly because he was proven correct!”
You are going to find that this does not matter at all. Very very few have the personal integrity to admit this fact even under duress...
The thing that bothers me most are all the lies and misconceptions about him and his true positions. So many things taken completely out of context and twisted into things they are not.
That’s true. Ron Paul was right on a lot more things than I used to think he was.
Like a fine wine he has aged well

Personally I don’t have much opinion one way or the other about RP (either of them). But it could be said that Kermit the Frog changed the world and it would be just as true.
Sorry if this RP love fest post is the wrong place to make this comment.
I think Ron Paul and his son, Rand Paul, don't give Trump enough credit for accomplishing things, particularly the incredible achievements of the last six months. Some incredible steps in taming the federal government have taken hold. Musk was brought in, and his DOGE task force is still active. Just last week I got a questionnaire from Social Security asking a few question to help Social Security track down fraud cases. Great. Ron Paul is famous for his "big picture" ideas on how America can get back to its Constitution principles. And his 8 year service as a U.S. House rep for suburban Houston is commendable. But he never had the smarts to wheel and deal to actually win the Presidency and build an incredible team, and make things happen. President Trump not only had great ideas, he also won the Presidency two times against incredible odds and election fraud. And now in office, Trump is winning big time for MAGA, the Tea Patriot Patriots, and We the People. The whole world is following what President Trump is doing. I'd venture to say President Trump has eclipsed the United Nations in his ability to transform our world for the betterment of world peace and world prosperity. So a man of Ron Paul's stature should be jumping up and down in PRAISE for what President Trump has DONE implementing policies and fighting the entrenched federal bureaucrats with great vigor AND successes in record time. So why isn't Ron Paul doing that? |

I’d say a lot of the animosity towards Trump is “professional jealousy.”

Will do and THANKS!!!
What we see, is Ron Paul was completely wrong about the Middle East. They do not hate us because we “meddled”.
They hate us because we are not Muslims!
While not exactly the “Middle East”, the Barbary Coast states we went to war with in the early 1800’s did not sieze American ships and enslave their crews because we “meddled”. They siezed them because they believed it was their religious right and duty to sieze them and enslave the crews.
They only stopped siezing them when we went to war with them and/or paid tribute. It is from these wars the Marine Corps hymn line of “the shores of Tripoli” comes from.
It was only when European nations grew strong enough to stop the piracy and slavery of the Islamic states that they stopped.
The evil acts of the Muslims have always been stopped by force, not by being nice.
Libertarian purists disbelieve reality and think they can impose purist Libertarian ideas on societies like ours that are imposed on by weighty foreign sources that are not and will never ever be Libertarian. We are supposed to open ourselves up to the dictatorships and their economic influences, helping their economic models while living a Libertarian fantasy. The Libertarian purists are not realists.
My favorite Ron Paul moment was when he was the lone dissenting vote in Congress, voting AGAINST giving Charles Schultz (creator of the Peanuts cartoon) a Congressional Medal of Honor.
His logic ? The medals cost $25k each and we’re broke! People love Mr. Schultz for his creative gifts…. No medal is needed to increase his popularity.
“Dr. No”, my congressional rep, was serious about reducing spending.
So why isn’t Ron Paul doing that? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
He wants something from Trump.
Your guess is as good as mine, the two get along well together on the golf course.
If you look closely at Ron Paul you see his pro-immigration goals, and opposition to the wall.
Make him head of the Fed.
