Israel currently controls about 75% of Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he wants Israel to take full control over the Gaza Strip, but not to govern the enclave.
“We intend to, in order to assure our security, remove Hamas there, enable the population to be free of Gaza and pass it to civilian governance that is not Hamas and not anyone advocating the destruction of Israel,” Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News.
Israel has been at war with Hamas since the group launched a surprise attack on Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 1,200 people and taking hundreds of hostages.
In response, Israel launched a sweeping military campaign in Gaza. In May, Netanyahu announced that Israeli forces had killed Hamas Gaza chief Mohammed Sinwar.
But the ongoing operation has come at a high cost. Thousands of Palestinian civilians have been killed during the war. Netanyahu says Israel does not target civilians, claiming Hamas uses them as human shields.
Israel currently controls about 75% of Gaza. While Netanyahu wants to expand that control, he emphasized he does not want Israel to govern the territory long-term.
“We don't want to be there as a governing body,” he said. “We want to hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us and giving Gazans a good life.”
Netanyahu’s plan faces criticism from the international community and from many families of Israeli hostages, who are calling for an end to the war. On Thursday, some families sailed toward the Gaza border in protest.
The father of hostage Nimrod Cohen accused Netanyahu of prioritizing political survival.
“You know, he’s playing a double game,” Cohen said. “On the one hand, he’s saying we’re doing everything to get the hostages back; on the other hand, he’s satisfying the...

Handing it over later....
Sort of like giving Dems full control of Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati, NYC, San Francisco and LA.
What could go wrong?
Handing it over to Arab forces? WTH!? Whose INSANITY is that???? For Heaven’s sakes, dig yourselves a great big ditch and jump in. The Arabs will be glad to finish the job for you if you’re so committed to suicide, Bibi.
“”enable the population to be free of Gaza””
More bad proof reading? Don’t they mean “free of Hamas?”
Agreed. Israel should take over completely, say the top half of Gaza, kick the Gazans out. Then tell the Gazans/Hamas/Palestinians or whatever they call themselves that Israel will take over more if attacked again. Then more. Then more. Until there’s nothing left controlled at all by the Arabs.
GTFO! Put them in the Sinai. Have the Saudis build massive tent cities with A/C like they did for the Mecca pilgrimage:
Above and below, Mina, Saudi Arabia: the "City of Tents." (approx 1 million)
The old Cooler, they were all over in the 50s and 60s out in west Texas, our church used a large one into the 70s.
They would be better off under Egyptian control.
But they're not doing that because the Muslim Brotherhood is a banned group in Egypt and they are allied with Hamas.
bttt
But but but, they are gonna hand it over to the mythical “responsible Arab armed forces”
Your plan is great. Although slower than President Trump’s moving them to an Indonesian island. Then guard the hell out of it do the fakestinians can never ever attack terrorize slaughter bomb or torture anybody ever again.
I’d also suggest punching a damned hole in the Egyptian barricade wall sbd telling the Egyptian ruler to at least allow free transit so that any fakestiinuans wishing to go to another Moslem country can do so. (Keep them the H out of USA!!)
No country wants the Palestinians. Definitely not the Jordanians nor the Egyptians, considering the chaos Palestinians have caused to Jordan and Egypt in the past (Jordan had accepted many refugees decades back, who tried to assassinate the king) and recent past (Egypt has banned the Muslim Brotherhood and built a huge wall to prevent more Palestinians from coming in). Existential threats to their political stability. In the past they have even caused issues in Syria and Lebanon.
There is absolutely no way Egypt would let a couple million of such people go there as refugees (or even worse) integrate into the local population. Even if someone blew a hole in the Egyptian wal (not sure though why that would be right …it would be like someone blowing a hole in the Trump wall so that Mexicans can go to better places) …anyways, even if someone ‘blew a hole’ in the wall, Egypt would never accept them. They’d be accepting chaos and massive/existential disruption if they did, so they will not.
It is a tricky problem without easy solutions. No place on earth would want to receive them.
Yes. Understood that they’re dangerous and nobody wants them anywhere in or nearby.
Many (not all) of them are Egyptian or have Egyptian families, heritage. But no point in arguing either the Egyptian government — they’ve had them before and definitely don’t want them back. Tragic but understandable. This all underscores the need for safe transit (Israel is setting up a pathway but another one through the Egyptian wall is an obvious need, imho. At the least, it would substantially expedite humanitarian movement out of the Hamas hostilities zone.
That Indonesian island of President Trump will help a great deal as a destination alternative, too.
On Indonesia, they have many islands. Enough that maybe those guys can be given one (that is at the very edge of the archipelago). Maybe the only real solution that has the smallest amount of damage. Maybe they can become a fishing community and not be a bother.
Seriously, maybe that is the best solution. I don’t see a better one.
Let’s hope that works (although the Palestinians would probably unite with Jemaah Islamiyah, a Sunni terror group affiliated with Al Qaeda that has given Indonesia problems, and become a new headache …). Although, even with that risk, and considering Indonesia has many islands, it could easily be the best solution to a difficult problem.
Yes indeed.
Indonesia has over 17,000 islands.
One (as you say, as far out of the way as possible) will be about as perfect a place for the Fakestinians (with proper guarding that they are never permitted to rearm or attack anybody else).
All the foreign aid that is being, in effect, given to the Fakestinian terrorist gangsters ... can better be used to assist President Trump’s Fakestinian relocation to begin new lives on Fakestesia Island. Which they can, if they choose, make into a paradise as much as they could have made the land Israel gave them into a paradise. Whether they will choose to do so? Seems doubtful but whatever they do there, so long as it is kept well watched, will at least leave the world safe from any further attacks, bombings, or mass murder “parties” from the Fakestinians.
I have to acknowledge that when I first heard President Trump propose this plan, it sounded quite “out of the box” but it is really a brilliant idea — giving the Fakestinians a second (or third, or 100th) chance (depending on when one begins to count all their violence against innocent neighbours)
giving them yet another chance to learn how to live as civilized human beings
while keeping everyone else SAFE from them, in case they don’t choose to turn over a new leaf, reform and leave their blood-thirsty 8th century evil ways.
Cheer,

THOSE FORCES DON’T EXIST.
Buy the Gazan’s out and annex it for Jews.
Wow! I thought Israel controlled about 25%.
The current Israeli military Chief of Staff is telling the Cabinet not to finish the job.
Just encircle the remaining hostile area, do not attack it.
He makes one important point - the Israeli hostages will probably be murdered one by one if Israel tries to occupy the last 25%.
On the other hand, the failure to completely destroy Hamas means more Israeli hostages will taken, mistreated, and murdered in the future.
