Yes. Understood that they’re dangerous and nobody wants them anywhere in or nearby.
Many (not all) of them are Egyptian or have Egyptian families, heritage. But no point in arguing either the Egyptian government — they’ve had them before and definitely don’t want them back. Tragic but understandable. This all underscores the need for safe transit (Israel is setting up a pathway but another one through the Egyptian wall is an obvious need, imho. At the least, it would substantially expedite humanitarian movement out of the Hamas hostilities zone.
That Indonesian island of President Trump will help a great deal as a destination alternative, too.
On Indonesia, they have many islands. Enough that maybe those guys can be given one (that is at the very edge of the archipelago). Maybe the only real solution that has the smallest amount of damage. Maybe they can become a fishing community and not be a bother.
Seriously, maybe that is the best solution. I don’t see a better one.
Let’s hope that works (although the Palestinians would probably unite with Jemaah Islamiyah, a Sunni terror group affiliated with Al Qaeda that has given Indonesia problems, and become a new headache …). Although, even with that risk, and considering Indonesia has many islands, it could easily be the best solution to a difficult problem.
