Mastercard wants everyone to have a digital wallet and mDL to make ID like payments

Online ID verification causes friction for customers more often than not, yet identity theft makes up 40 percent of Europe’s online fraud. Digital identity can work simply and deliver trust like payment cards, however, says Mastercard.

The EU Digital Identity Wallet is in part a recognition of this issue, according to a post by Mastercard EVP for Services Europe Michele Centemero, who sees an opportunity for digital ID to work more like his company’s forte, digital payments.

Mastercard supports the EUDI Wallet program as an advisor to the EU’s NOBID project, and a partner in the WE BUILD Consortium. The payments giant’s work with the EU’s Large-Scale Pilots compliments its work to integrate card-based payments into EUDI Wallets and harmonize strong customer authentication (SCA), Centemero writes. One of the possible advantages of this integration is building attribute checks, such as for age or country of residence, into payment transactions.

The company is also working on related international standards, such as those overseen by the FIDO Alliance and EMVCo.

Mastercard is also certified to the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF) as an orchestration service provider.

“Through ongoing investments in biometric authentication, AI-powered fraud detection and privacy-by-design solutions, we’re helping build the confidence Europe needs to lead in the digital age,” Centemero concludes.

Just pay through the mail , though that’s not 100% secure either.

So when they get hacked the hackers get even more “authentic” data to use.

The postal service has lost more of my mail in the last 6 years than the rest of my 58 years combined and all of it I am aware of involved something of monetary value including a $2,000 check and also a gift card and other checks as well. If I can avoid using the postal service at all I do it.

“Two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as two-step verification, is an enhanced security method that requires two distinct forms of identification to verify user identity. It adds an extra layer of protection beyond just a password, making it significantly harder for unauthorized users to access accounts or systems.”

Problem solved. Next!

It’s better than this idea. 99% of the time mailing a check works just fine. All these clowns who wanted other methods brought about the need and want for Digital ID.

In my life I have probably mailed out more than two thousand checks.

Exactly two were lost in the mail.

The present model is track everyone through their phones. They want the ability to ping your phone to know your physical location every time you use their app. That way, they can confirm that the purchase didn’t come from some hacker in another country. Your phone has become Big Brother’s tracking and spying device. Just say “no” to Google.

They’re trying to ensure the vig they’ve been getting on virtually every retail transaction.

Are you kidding?

If you are sending checks through the mail you are asking for a huge headache when someone inside the post office steals that check, washes it, writes a big check, and cashes it.

Do NOT use the U.S. Mail, it has been trashed by DEI.

Mailing checks is getting dangerous. I’m down to ONE check to a state Dep’t of revenue. Capital police called up; had copy of said check changed from Dept of Revenue for $450 changed to a person and they added a $5000 in from of the $450. (Check washing). It was such an amateur job a bank failed to cash it. BUT..now, the bank routing number and the account number on the check was ‘out there’ and can be used for online payments by anyone who had it. It’s not even a low level steal-from-your- mailbox it was an inside the USPS job. Checks are the least secure and a checking account can be wiped out as now they have your routing and account number.

I think every purchase should require ID. That’s the only way to combat this. It works for voting.
