Mastercard wants everyone to have a digital wallet and mDL to make ID like payments

Online ID verification causes friction for customers more often than not, yet identity theft makes up 40 percent of Europe’s online fraud. Digital identity can work simply and deliver trust like payment cards, however, says Mastercard.

The EU Digital Identity Wallet is in part a recognition of this issue, according to a post by Mastercard EVP for Services Europe Michele Centemero, who sees an opportunity for digital ID to work more like his company’s forte, digital payments.

Mastercard supports the EUDI Wallet program as an advisor to the EU’s NOBID project, and a partner in the WE BUILD Consortium. The payments giant’s work with the EU’s Large-Scale Pilots compliments its work to integrate card-based payments into EUDI Wallets and harmonize strong customer authentication (SCA), Centemero writes. One of the possible advantages of this integration is building attribute checks, such as for age or country of residence, into payment transactions.

The company is also working on related international standards, such as those overseen by the FIDO Alliance and EMVCo.

Mastercard is also certified to the UK Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework (DIATF) as an orchestration service provider.

“Through ongoing investments in biometric authentication, AI-powered fraud detection and privacy-by-design solutions, we’re helping build the confidence Europe needs to lead in the digital age,” Centemero concludes.

Good for you. The regional post office in the ATL area is a train wreck, you can look that up easily, and I know from personal discussions with my former chief of police that there was inside stuff happening at the local post office where I lived for many years.

My assessment holds for my geography, your personal experience does not negate that.

I recommend people not mail checks. Period.

If you are sending checks through the mail you are asking for a huge headache when someone inside the post office steals that check, washes it, writes a big check, and cashes it.

Do NOT use the U.S. Mail, it has been trashed by DEI.

There is ink that doesn't wash but I agree. Had it happen to me and while I was at the bank they told me that someone's tax payment for the county was stolen as well. I rarely write checks

I believe that CBDC will be a reality in several nations and will eventually be linked to effectively implement a One-World Digital Currency.

Until a law is passed where cash 💲💲 has an expiration date 📅 and has to be deposited in a bank by that date or be considered useless. IMHO that will be their method. Unless something has changed, Biden's Executive Order 14067 is still in force. If it has been rescinded I haven't seen it. If anyone has an update on that, please advise.

The (Raleigh) police are still tight lipped due to open investigation but, they note it was an inside job INSIDE the post office. Addresses the scream; a check is inside (like NC Dep’t of Revenue) are targets to be stolen. Esp Govt Agencies that are incompetent as hell or take a while to figure out a check due is missing. BTW that Agency took SEVEN MONTHS to note that check we sent didn’t arrive. Don’t use USPS to mail checks !
