I think Trump should back off. Screwing up our relations with and the economy of India is not the best way to screw Russia.

I would agree. It’s one thing to sanction Russia. Russia is in the war. But India is not bothering anyone. Let them decide for themselves what their best interests are.

India has too much at stake to not do things better.

This is a way to bring both Russia and India into better compliance.

It’s not a show stopper, unless you think H1-Bs are going to start going crazy on us, in response, and, if they get Sudden Jihadi Syndrome, well, we will have learned our lesson.

U.S. goods exports to India in 2024 were $41.8 billion, up 3.4 percent ($1.4 billion) from 2023. U.S. goods imports from India totaled $87.4 billion in 2024, up 4.5 percent ($3.7 billion) from 2023.
