Pro tip: Planes can't fly in water.
I'm glad Captain Botana was able to recover that spin at the Gijon Sir Show on Sunday, but holy moly that was close.
Another angle:
Gijon Airshow, Spain F-18 low pass yesterday.
Anyone want to share what they believe happened here?

It's one thing if the Blue Angels do it:
Check out the photographer who had the coolest Blue Angels shot of all time
I once had a Blue Angel pilot give me a salute from his F-18 while I was providing security as a Civil Air Patrol cadet at a local air show. NOTTHEBEE.COM

AVIATION PING!.......................
The Spanish Air Force released a statement saying that the wild maneuver was due to the dang seagulls.
Many of you have been asking us what happened during the Gijón air festival. As you can see, our F-18 pilot detected a flock of birds in its trajectory. This action is part of the standard protocol to preserve both the pilot’s safety and the public’s security. Our pilots are trained to react immediately to any unforeseen event.
In this case, the pilot acted with speed and skill, avoiding a possible impact without compromising the exhibition.
I’m sure that’s an air show that none of them will forget!
Beat me to it! LOL
Do Spanish pilots wear brown shorts?
Looks terrifying from the back angle.
Not intentionally.....................
I’m not happy that our f-18 hornets will all too soon be in the hands of Muslims who will run Spain
that one does
They didn’t happen to be playing “I ran (so far away)” on the PA system, did they?
Hey, hold my beer....
I didn’t see umbrellas and beach towels going up in a cloud of sand and water so, it all seems pretty run-of-the-mill to me.
Airshows are Darwinfests.
It looks like the jockey was going to try to execute a roll and almost lost it.
According to the Spanish Air Force, he was about to hit a flock of birds....................
Yikes!
Nice flying... Roll over and check out the bikinis...
I agree. Looks to me like he was trying to do a knifedge pass then over-rolled and got the nose down.
If that's the best they got...
That's always been the standard maneuver upon spotting a flock of seagulls.
Go inverted 20 feet off the deck.
