QUEEN…We Are the Champions”
Vanity

In my car today and Freddie Mercury’s “WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS” came on. Without a doubt, could have been written for the future Donald Trump and MAGA. I can just see Trump walking on stage with Freddy belting this out. A few excerpts:

TOPICS:
KEYWORDS:
I've paid my dues Time after time I've done my sentence But committed no crime And bad mistakes I've made a few I've had my share of sand kicked in my face But I've come through We are the champions, my friends And we'll keep on fighting 'til the end

No time for losers 'Cause we are the champions of the world I've taken my bows And my curtain calls You brought me fame and fortune And everything that goes with it I thank you all But it's been no bed of roses No pleasure cruise, Cause we are the Champions, and we’ll keep on fighting ‘til the end.

Their other song about absolute winning is
“We Will Rock You!”
Great chant for a big crowd to do accapela.
Power guitar riff as the bridge in middle.

***We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions

Fixed it...the two never played separately.

Queens hits were 50 years ago and they still sound great.

Back in the day, not playing them back to back uninterrupted as they were on the album was a serious breach of Radio DJ etiquette. It was so consistently played that way on some stations that many people thought it was one song, We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions.

My High School music teacher told us that Brian May wrote “We Will Rock You” after a Gregorian Chant stuck in his head. The slight delay when he plays guitar on that is meant to evoke the round-robin style many monkish orders sang in.

And I said “John Bonham did that first with drums on ‘Kashmir’”

Guess who cleaned blackboards that day.

My favorite line of all the Queen songs is from The Night of the Opera, the song is “Death on Two Legs.”

The lyric is “Do you feel like suicide?” (suggestive) Must mumble it 10 times a day over 20+ years when reading FR, not an hour ago suggested it to self with the Adam Shitt story on the mortgage fraud.

Teachers hate it when the students are better educated than they are. ;)

Nah, Mr. Pickle (real name) was cool. He even helped inspire one student to go on to be a world class musician/minor rock star with the "Prog-Celtic" band The Waterboys.
