Tucson icon Linda Ronstadt lost her capacity to speak and hear after a second bout of COVID earlier this year.
With the help of therapy and attentive, around-the-clock care, the legendary songstress has regained her speech, she recently told a high school classmate who checked in with her ahead of their 60th reunion at Catalina High School.
Though Ronstadt has regained her speech, she said her hearing loss may be permanent.

Tits?
I’m glad she regained her speech.
She was an Arizona icon, even though she moved to California and criticized Tucson for being “dusty’!
Frey and Henley. Yukkkk
Don’t forget “Lawyers, Guns & Money”!
Well then, let’s grant her wish then.
Tucson has been described as the SF of Arizona
Jessica Tarlov’s voice is ANNOYING
.......
I agree.
Seems like a lot of TV folks are having voice problems . Hoarse, genetic, overuse, even age
“She was no Karen Carpenter.”
Who was? But Linda was a majestic talent. Most of my partying pals were nuts about her and we were running around Tucson being fools in 1976. She had done Stone Ponies and all kinds of songs and activities for a decade then, but since the politics of the day was crazy liberal, she didn’t say much about them.
“I hate the effing Eagles. Most overrated band EVER.”
The Flying Burrito Brothers were there first with country rock. So were the Byrds with Sweetheart of The Rodeo. The Eagles were inferior to those two groups.
I dislike the Eagles, but they are mega- crowd pleasers who have endured. And made vast millions of dollars while doing it. Take It Easy is their only great tune, and Jackson Browne did it better. He co-wrote it.
Hotel California must have racked up billions of listens via radio, then by streaming on Spotify. You tube too at 20 million views
Thanks for the Welcome.
I like your 2024 Election Results Map. Not one Blue County in Oklahoma or West Virginia! Pretty amazing.
It wasn’t when I lived there—way back!
And the U of A is still no Berkeley or Stanford—for good or for ill!
A spread-out desert city with wonderful Mexican restaurants, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Saguaro National Monument, etc. etc.! Watch out for the monsoons, thought!
We bought a little house in NW Tucson (Oro Valley) for a 2nd home near relatives and fora potential bolt-hole if thing went to hell politically in Hawaii.
Wife and I eat at several favorite restaurants when we visit. Guadalajara Grill is out favorite place.
The multiple days of well over 100° soured her on moving to that area permanently. I like the low humidity, but.
Do not mind the rain, we are somewhat used to that. The view of the Catalinas is astounding.
Correct.
Liked her music when I was young, when I was older, did not like what she sang and the CA imprint.
Later when she paired up with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, I thought it was her best material. She had a voice.
I only listened to a couple of her Spanish work.
How could I?
But on-topic I’m pretty sure I must have missed LR’s cover of “Lawyers, Guns & Money”.
Also LR’s lyrics were cleaned up a bit. Consider “Poor Poor Pitiful Me”
Zevon:
I met a girl at the Rainbow Bar
She asked me if I’d beat her
She took me back to the Hyatt House
I don’t want to talk about it, hey
LR:
Well I met a boy in the Vieux Carres
Down in Yokohama
He picked me up and he threw me down
He said “Please don’t hurt me Mama”
