May he rest in peace. Away from the damn idiots that want to run him down. He grew up in a rough time and place. Mickey Gilley and Jerry Lee Lewis or his cousins.
Condolences to family and friends of Jimmy Swaggart.
Is he traveling north or south?
In what way was Swaggert a heretic?
Dude loved hookers.
Swaggert once described the Catholic Church as “the whore of the Apocalypse” and as a false religion.
Well, Swaggert sure knew about whores, but didn’t know much about the Catholic Church, I’d reckon
He always had a beautiful voice and a good message. But he could not keep away from the prostitutes. They were his downfall.

….stuff you won’t here elsewhere.
The man was a con-man, a whore-monger, and an anti-Catholic. Despite that he was no doubt instrumental in bringing many to Christ as he understood him—though he also was probably instrumental with many more becoming disillusioned and abandoning Christ because of his bad example. It’s not for an imperfect person like me or anyone here to judge his soul; only God can do that. May he rest in peace.
Memory Eternal!
Why do you call him a heretic?
I thought he was a con man.
He and The Chaplain of Bourbon Street got too close to the fire. Rest in peace.
I watched his show a couple of times. After watching, I thought: “I don’t think God talks through this man any more than He does my labrador retriever dog. So, I stopped watching his show and started listening to my dog more. RIP Jimmie.
Its whipping up to be a hellaceous week!
I pray that he made his peace with God before he passed. Once we get to the other side, we'll see.
I was a young agnostic Rock and Roller/punk rocker back in the days when he was on the tv. Laughed like crazy when he had his downfall, but still felt sorry for him.
We’re all mortal. We all make big mistakes.
Became one of those awful (according to some Freepers) Roman Catholics when I married my Boston Irish hubby. For the record, I don’t worship Mary, I worship her Son.
Still, I pray for people who make mistakes, large and small. We’re human, we all need salvation.
Ultimately, the Big Boss (as I call him) decides, not us.
Best wishes to all.
Well he was hospitalized for two weeks before he died so my hope is he made his peace with God and repented before he died. I wish that for all as well, including me.
