President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk resumed their war of words, and the electric-vehicle maker’s stock slumped in premarket trading Tuesday.

Tesla’s stock

TSLA

-4.52% dropped 6% ahead of the opening bell.

Musk, who also is CEO of SpaceX and owns the social-media platform X, heavily criticized the One Big Beautiful Bill Act working its way through the U.S. Senate, and the president retaliated by threatening to remove subsidies for Musk’s companies and cancel government contracts for Tesla and SpaceX. As Musk’s only listed organization, Tesla is once again vulnerable to the brickbats and threats of a high-profile political spat played out online.

Trump told Musk that he is ok with EV's, just not the subsidies.

I don't get a subsidy for buying a car.

The BBB would increase deficit spending by about $400 billion per year in the next three years:

This Musk/Trump fight is getting tiresome. Both are right and both are wrong.

Musk just needs to exit the political stage and stick to being a billionaire genius.

Doesn't surprise me that Elon is really not for the things he claims he is for, which is why I applauded him at times, but never really felt comfortable about his support.

In my eyes, Elon was always about what furthered his interests, period.

If you have to give subsidies for something its not that great of a product.

Will the true Elon Musk please stand up? Kind of looks like he has. Trump’s big beautiful bill while it may have some problems or issues is way, way better than anything the dems would do. Bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. will increase jobs, lower taxes always stimulate the economy, and Musk is just plain wrong. Pissed of he will lose some subsidies. Go suck South Africa dry, Musk.

No figures shared by that source can be regarded as trustworthy. The BBB is going to cut spending in the long run significantly.

He needs America to survive financially. He sees the current trajectory as unsustainable, with the BBB making that problem worse. The disagreement with Trump is the degree to which the BBB will promote growing our way out of the deficit. Musk thinks the prospect of growth will be illusory if we don't cut Federal spending. Substantially.

To be frank, there is no rational justification for spending beyond a reasonable extrapolation of pre-COVID levels, while there is considerable support for cuts below that level. This is where the GOP and Trump are wrong both fiscally and politically, in that they haven't even attempted to make that political case out of fear of a dying legacy media. It's a cultural habit within the GOP and particularly its political consultant class (composed mostly of Democrats) which Trump has made, if anything, worse.

I was fooled into believing that his motivations were altruistic in the beginning.
Now, he’s simply a money hungry narcissist who doesn’t put his money where his mouth is.

Pretend difference?

Regarding space funding, the “Big, Beautiful Bill” proposes significant allocations:

Mars Mission Priorities: $10 billion

International Space Station (ISS) De-orbiting: $325 million to assist in the controlled de-orbiting of the ISS.

Space Shuttle Relocation: $85 million to move the Space Shuttle

Discovery from the National Air and Space Museum in Virginia to Space Center Houston in Texas.

Space Force Budget Increase: The bill would potentially provide the Space Force with a nearly $40 billion budget, a substantial increase from current levels, according to SpaceNews.
Golden Dome Missile Defense System: The bill allocates $25 billion for this system, aimed at modernizing the U.S. missile defense with advanced technologies.

So you would by pass congress.

Where did you get that conclusion?

Yuh know Trump constitutionally has to go through congress, something you and musk don't understand.

Go buy a clue. Trump has done nothing to curtail Congressional excess. Quite the contrary. He's done more to redirect it, but it's still excessive. There hasn't been a word from him about Congress funding Medicaid for illegals.

Massie: "If we were serious, we’d be cutting spending now, instead of promising to cut spending years from now."

Okay Massie. Give us an alternative that has the votes.

Quit grandstanding and start twisting RINO arms.

You don't do that so you grandstand.

The only issue we know about in public is not that Musk was big mad about EV subsidies, it was about the BBB bankrupting the country.

What I do know is that Trump said it many of times at rallies with Elon that he and Elon differed on he issue of EV’s and subsidies. That is a truth.

Elon needs to run his businesses or run for office. Right now he is damaging both.
