Supreme Court Legalizes Trump Presidency

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Supreme Court issued a ruling this morning that it is legal for President Donald Trump to be the president.

In a 6-3 decision, the court held that since Trump was, in fact, elected to be president, his ability to "do president things" was protected under the law.

"The court hereby rules that a president can be president," wrote Justice Amy Coney Barrett, who penned the decision for the majority. "By virtue of being president, that person is the president. I can't freaking believe I'm having to explain this."

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson wrote a scathing dissent for the minority, arguing that she really didn't like that presidents could do stuff and also that it was very unfair how pretty Justice Barrett is for her age. "I'm really getting sick of looking at her still-youthful face," wrote Jackson. "Also, I hate laws. Laws are stupid. Case closed."

At publishing time, Justice Jackson had challenged Justice Barrett to a pay-per-view cage match.

This is good, it was inefficient for SCOTUS to be President. They needed to dump that dirty job on someone else.

I knew it was the Bee when it had Barrett make that common sense declaration. It seems out of character.

Actually, it seemed to be the non-SCOTUS Federal Feral Judges who were usurping the powers of the President. The SCOTUS slapped them down pretty hard.

“We will not dwell on Justice Jackson’s argument, which is at odds with more than two centuries worth of precedent, not to mention the Constitution itself. We observe only this: Justice Jackson decries an imperial Executive while embracing an imperial Judiciary.”

You’re right. I’ll have to credit her for that one. But I don’t know why it’s so hard for her and other “conservative” judges to understand that their job is to rule on the law, not to invent the law, that the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and that laws mean what those who enacted them intended them to mean, nothing more, nothing less. The alternative is chaos, then tyranny.

Amy Conehead has frequently been on the wrong side of SCOTUS decisions. When she is on the right side of one, it's noteworthy. She doesn't always demonstrate basic common sense, since she is an elitist.

Agreed. I recall there was a snarky Freeper, who nicknamed Amy Coney Barrett , as Amy Coney Ginsburg.

I know there’s a lot of snark and sarcasm on Free Republic, but certainly we all know, Amy Coney Barrett is preferable to idiot, liberal judges who have been placed there by Democrat presidents.

Agreed. This thread as like some recent others, has the same tired names for AJ Barrett but is lacking in reasons WHY her rulings are suspect. Which is frankly a sign of ignorance, intellectual laziness, etc.
