Progressive New York Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani is outperforming former Governor Andrew Cuomo among the state's wealthiest voters in the New York City mayoral Democratic primary race, according to new polling.

The latest Yale Youth Poll, conducted with YouGov among 645 voters between June 17 and 23 with a margin of error of ±5 percentage points, shows that in the final round of voting, Mamdani leads Cuomo among voters with income over $100,000 by 20 points, with 60 percent to Cuomo's 40 percent.

Newsweek reached out to representatives for Cuomo and Mamdani via email for comment.

Trophy wives are responding to these polls - the actual wealth creators can’t be bothered.

$100K in NYC does not make you wealthy by any stretch of the imagination.

That said, I think it’s pretty clear that “progressivism” isn’t the ideology of the working class, but of those who abuse the working class. They want to “progress” toward a world where those types of deplorable people no longer need to be seen, heard, or even exist.

They think they will be the ones on top. Socialism sure wasn’t about helping the poor working class

$100k/year is poverty wages in NYC; hardly “the wealthiest voters”

"645 voters , not very many"

They probably had to call at least ten times that number just to find 645 people who would waste the time answering their call.

Doesn't make sense.

Actually, it makes perfect sense.

Warren Buffet said it best - America is the greatest place in history.

People like Bill Gates and myself may have spectacular wealth, but in the things that matter, the quality of our lives are much the same as your average middle class American.

We all live in comfortable, air conditioned homes, we all drive nice, reliable cars, we all eat the same foods and we all share a standard of living that Kings and Queens could only be dream of a century earlier. The only real meaningful difference between my lifestyle and that of most other Americans is my mobility and mode of transportation using private jets.

Sure, I may have many very nice homes around the world, drive nicer and more expensive luxury cars and eat and drink better foods cooked by world class chefs but in all really meaningful measures, my life is not markedly better than that of your average middle class American. And for the most part, he is correct. In fact, your average middle class American may be happier than many of the very wealthy - just ask Michelle Obama.

This is not a good thing for the ultra rich who wish to walk as all powerful gods or old line royalty lording over their inferior serfs in the public.

For them it is not enough to have just more and better than their fellows citizens - they want to have everything and live in splendor and for the rest to have nothing and live destitute lives under the thumbs of their betters.

They desire a return to a type of neo feudalism where they live in wealth and privilege like as Lords of the Manor like the degenerate Versailles nobility of pre Revolutionary France surrounded by powerless and destitute serfs who dare not look up and meet their gaze and whose lives they have in the palm of their hands.

That's why they love China so much and why many of the movers and shakers of the Party of Davos are the descendants of the titled nobility who wish to see their power and position restored and petty bureaucrats who wish to be elevated to positions of power and control over people.

When you look at their policies with this perspective, everything makes total sense.

Apparently, the media wants to play this you cannot be too liberal even for a very Jewish new York. As a previous state wide machine vanadate, the giant Q-TIP should be clearing the field. As a primary in NY, it really is about as valid weighing of the electorate. As the straw pole at the Iowa Fair and I don’t know if turnout is larger than the number of city employees, what we call in Chicago, the Byrne Line.

I worked in NYC 1974-1982 and was back many times on business and pleasure in the decades after

I am so glad I got to see “the city” before it collapsed. Even the going bankrupt era and pre-Giuliani days were many times better than what I see and read about today.

The fact remains that under Donald Trump, New york may become communist, and he will not do a damned thing about it. Except complain.

My thoughts exactly. And according to Grok 100 K is the median income in Manhattan. 79K is the median across the city.

So saying, this is a consensus of the “wealthy “ is disingenuous at best

Actually it does make sense. There are several promising ,to the Dems, politicians in NYC. But they all know one gets to be mayor and that’s the end. It just is. So the Dems are left with their dregs. Go back and look at those that ran against Guiliani and Bloomberg and who followed. There is a guy from the Bronx, Ritchoe Torres, who would have won this in a walk, but his sights are on Albany and DC.
This accounts for the awful voter turnouts. You would thinl Mario’s brat would wipe the floor with this motley woke crew but he did not realize how much he is hated because of Covid and his babe hunting and hurting. So it will be an antisemitic paki born islamo socialist.
