Tucker: How many people live in Iran?
Cruz: I don't know the population.
Tucker: You don't know the population of the country you seek to topple?
Cruz: How many people live in Iran?
Tucker: 92 million. How could you not know that?
Brutal.
Quick! Wiki it!
Carlson will not improve with age.
Here on in, he will just get worse.
He should retire gracefully. He IS the once and future CONTRARIAN.
Always was, always will be
Why would he know that? I mean really, who cares. It doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that for nearly 50 years Iran has been theocratic dictatorship whose primary foreign policy is they hate us. 10 million, 90 million, doesn’t really matter.
Quick Tucker... ask Cruz a DF and obscure legal question and Cruz will bury you alive.
IMHO, what Tucker is pointing out is that Iran is a very large country with a population over a quarter of the USA.
It is a modern country. Much more so than Iraq, Syria, Vietnam or Afghanistan. Where we literally gave up thousand of US lives for what?
Yes, there are many people, including serviceman that would like some payback on Iran. Especially some that came back from Iraq missing a leg or two. All because of an IED made in Iran. However, do we really want to get involved in another war for oil?
That unfortunately is what it is really all about. Iran controls a large amount of petroleum production. It also controls access to the Persian Gulf. It has been the main force behind much of the terrorism in the world the last 46 years. What is Hamas, Hezbollah, Huethis, without the backing of Iran? So, defeating Iran is like cutting off the head of the Snake.
The question is whether we/Israel cut off the head of the Snake without getting bit in the process.
That was a dumb gotcha question. As Ted said in response: “What difference does it make if the population is 60 million or 100 million?”
The simple facts are these: that Islamic government of Iran has been broadcasting its hatred of the US for 45 years now, is funding terrorism overseas, tried to assassinate candidate Trump, and is enriching uranium. While I don’t support the US military getting involved directly in Iran, I don’t have much sympathy for the Mullahs and their regime if bad things happen to them.
No more so than the Pope.
Which was the point. He is the Pope equivalent for Shiites.
And if they elect someone we don't like, send the CIA back in to topple him.
(But always remember to tell everyone that they are the bad guys.)
Cruz: How many people live in Iran?
Tucker: 92 million. How could you not know that?
Cruz: oh yeah smart guy! What are their names?
Carlson is in the bag for Russia. Which country do you think Russia supports?
The population of Iran does not matter.
The only thing that matters about Iran is the fanatical theocratic dictators that hold power over the people of Iran. It is a dictatorship that has pledged death to Israel and death to the U.S. since it’s founding in 1979.
Tucker’s question is a silly school kid’s attempt at “gptcha”, with a question that means nothing.
Good points.
But there’s also this: The population of the targeted country is an important and very basic factor in war calculations. Ask any competent military strategist — or just use common sense.
Why isn’t this obvious to everyone on this thread?
...well, Cruz isn’t a military stategist and we need regime change which is about 500 leaders, so who cares about 50M or 92M, it’s not important when you need people in the streets calling for the overthrow of the mullahs... ymmv
My opinion of Tucker gets lower by the second.
They just don’t care to hear it. It is that we are going to drop bunker bombs on the truly awful mullahs with big mouths, force them out, install the hand picked Shah, and then we come home and all is well.
I would love this to be the case, but it won’t be that easy and clean. In reality, how could anyone even think that?
We are going to probably be finding out shortly.
I agree. Very well stated.
FRegards to you.
Russia?
It will pursue its interests.
How much interest Russia will have in a post-axis-of-evil Iran remains to be seen. But if Iran in the near term proves friendly to both Israel and the U.S., one would think Moscow’s enthusiasm for the economic well being of the theocrats currently in power in Tehran will flatline.
