Thank you very much and God bless you.
There's a petition to stop the ban here, if interested: https://www.change.org/p/prevent-the-ban-on-raw-pet-milk-in-north-carolina
Has any bird flu in non-avian critters been traced to the consumption of dairy, raw or pasteurized?
Unless you’re a calf, why would you drink cow’s milk?
My milk drinking days ended some time after I was weaned.
Studies have shown that Pasteurization kills H5N1.
I don’t know if anyone has contracted it from raw milk.
No ice cream for you.
(No yogurt, milkshakes, smoothies or Kahlua and milk either).
I rescue and find homes for abandoned pet cats/kittens every Summer, and I keep powdered kitten formula all the time for the tiny ones-there are several brands on the market. I’ve never heard of feeding kittens-or puppies cow’s milk being a good idea. Cow’s milk is for calves-and goat milk is better for baby humans, if needed. This sounds like just more nonsense to keep people from getting raw milk-I hope the petition succeeds-no one’s business what people drink or eat by choice that is locally sourced and not manufactured...
You left out hot cocoa, a lot of soups, chowders and other creamed dishes, anything made with roux, etc....
Fine with me-I don’t care for ice cream or any other food with refined/processed sugar added-it is unhealthy. Yogurt and cheese are good sources of calcium for adults, low carb unless they have added sugar-drinking milk is for babies-not adults. ice cream is okay if you watch the sugar/carbs-same with milkshakes and smoothies-overindulge and get fat...
And see how well you turned out!
I figured that the pasteurizing would kill the virus. Just was not sure if it is really necessary to ban the raw milk for pets as a public health measure.
I tend to agree with you.
H5N1 has jumped species into all sorts of mammals in recent years. I don’t know of a case of it in milk, but I wouldn’t trust raw milk for a pet.
(I don’t know what pets you’re concerned about, but cats and dogs can be lactose intolerant, and I wouldn’t give them cow’s milk anyway.)
Only thing I use milk for is cereal, coffee and cooking. But if I had raw milk I’d be making my own butter, cheese and other things.
I never liked milk, thus still having dental work done.
I do use it in my coffee and on cereal. Only buy organic grass-fed 2% fat milk, which doesn’t have the nasty additives cheap 2% milk may have.
You must be one helluvalotof FUN at parties and family gatherings. ;)
I use ultra-filtered milk called Fairlife. After getting used to it, all other milk smells/tastes spoiled.
That’s really interesting.
When I was a kid, I absolutely hated milk because it always smelled and tasted spoiled. Still can’t drink a glass of milk, just use in coffee and on cereal. Could, I suppose, add a little coffee to a glass of milk and not barf.
China, Africa, and South America—not so much.
“My milk drinking days ended some time after I was weaned.”
On the other hand, I am 81 and still drink a quart of milk per day.
