Hall of Fame Chairman of the Board Jane Forbes Clark issued a statement on Tuesday regarding MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred's policy decision about individuals losing their permanently ineligible status after death.

"The National Baseball Hall of Fame has always maintained that anyone removed from Baseball’s permanently ineligible list will become eligible for Hall of Fame consideration," Clark said in the statement. "Major League Baseball’s decision to remove deceased individuals from the permanently ineligible list will allow for the Hall of Fame candidacy of such individuals to now be considered. The Historical Overview Committee will develop the ballot of eight names for the Classic Baseball Era Committee – which evaluates candidates who made their greatest impact on the game prior to 1980 – to vote on when it meets next in December 2027."

It's surprising that this is never mentioned.

.

In 1921, a Chicago jury acquitted Jackson and his seven teammates of wrongdoing. Nevertheless, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, the newly appointed Commissioner of Baseball, imposed a lifetime ban on all eight players. "Regardless of the verdict of juries," Landis declared,- wiki

Me too.

It wasn’t even George Floyd. It was some scum bag with a warrant who was terrorizing his former girlfriend and ran from the cops with a curved knife.

MLB players refused to play that night.

That was it.

It was this guy.

The site where police shot Blake, five days after the incident
On August 23, 2020, Kenosha police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a “domestic incident” at approximately 5:11 p.m. According to multiple official sources, the female caller referred to Blake as her “boyfriend”, said he was not permitted to be on the premises, and that he had taken her car keys and was refusing to give them back.[22][23] Officers were also informed by the dispatcher that there was a “wanted” alert for someone at the address, indicated by police code 10–99.[24] Blake had a warrant for his arrest from July, based on charges of third-degree sexual assault, trespassing, and disorderly conduct for domestic abuse in May.[10] The woman who called 9-1-1 on August 23 to report that Blake had stolen her keys was the same woman who had previously filed the criminal complaint alleging that Blake had sexually assaulted her.[11] Both Kenosha Police Chief Daniel Miskinis and the Kenosha Professional Police Association stated that the officers dispatched on August 23 were aware of the pending warrant for Blake before they arrived on scene.

1. Rose signed a binding agreement with MLB Commissioner Giamatti to NOT be allowed to be in the HOF. This was agreed upon to save face for Rose. I’m not sure whether Manfred has the authority to waive the agreement.
2. The Dowd report clearly demonstrates that Rose negatively impacted the Reds W/L record despite him only betting on wins.
3. Rose admitted publicly that he betted on baseball.
4. The HOF is a separate entity from MLB. It is a museum and has no compunction to induct anybody it doesn’t seem fit. Just because MLB makes him eligible, doesn’t necessarily get him in.

Pete predicted this would happen. He'd die and they'd put him in Cooperstown.

Sparky Anderson said Rose was the greatest ball player who ever lived who was born with no talent. It was all hustle.

“Just Maybe?”
That is so kind of you./s
You don’t live in the real world.

This ruling will be a good reason to stop being a fan of MLB!
NBA? long ago. NFL? recently. MLB? now.
This ruling opens the dreaded Pandora’s box. Why not cheat, bet, shave or throw a game?
HOW STUPID COULD YOU BE?
That question has been asked of Commish Manfred many times, I’m sure.

From a 76 year fan of the “All American Game!” First game I saw was Brooklyn at Giants 1949.

The “entertainment” is not worth the crap seen on the court, field or diamond.

To draw larger crowds, they need a separate partition, The Hall of Infamous.

Moving figures representing the villain, all dressed in uniform, enacting their suspicious deeds. Just like the wax museum.

Quite the draw.

“And now ladies and gentlemen, step right up and enter the Hall of the Infamous”

I agree with you, baseball is a sport where the players with the most base hits in history, the most home runs in history and 7 Cy Young Awards are not in the Hall of Fame, it’s hard to call the Hall of Fame legitimate when those 3 players are not in

Pete Rose got most of his hits at Riverfront. AstroTurf He hit the ball bout towards the mound Anita would slide through first and second.
