Dad in family of 5 reveals price tag for 1 day at Disney World — and haters are shocked: ‘Outrageous’

Their wallets were in a Disney World of hurt.

A Florida father left online viewers speechless after revealing that he paid nearly $1,400 to take his family of five to Disney World for just one day. A video detailing the exorbitant price tag has amassed over 7.7 million views on X.

“Here’s what a day at Disney cost me for a family of five,” explained the unnamed patriarch, who documented the price of tickets, parking, meals and snacks, along with items at the souvenir shops.

Before even embarking on the money-hemorrhaging adventure, the dad reportedly shelled out $30 for all-day parking at the attraction, which is located 20 minutes southwest of Orlando by car. The total cost of tickets for the quintet, including a child under 10, clocked in at an eye-popping $974 — approximately the cost of a round-trip flight from New York to Rome.

Snacks also took a big bite out of the fam’s finances. After their first ride, they bought two water bottles and three ice creams, which set them back $29.50. Meanwhile, a pretzel for the kids and a beer for the dad cost another $19.

After lunch, the family visited the Star Wars: Galaxy Edge park, where they dropped an astronomical amount on various cash-in products.

These included a “Star Wars”-themed Coca-Cola ($6.50), a churro, margarita and water ($36), and some special blue milk ($10.29) that first appeared in “Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope,” bringing their snack expense total to a shocking $101.29.

A 5 day vacation at Disney, staying at a Disney hotel, for a family of 4, can easily reach $8000-$10,000

I can’t imagine why anyone would subject themselves to such nonsense, and long lines.

If the dad didn’t know what he was getting into, then he’s an idiot.

And he’s an idiot in the first place for taking his family to such a sick immoral place.

Not your childhood Disneyland.

Are the Disneyworld theme park exoenses so high, because the other sort of Disney ventures, in television and movies, are losing so much money???

The Disney Challenge: If you can take two $100 bills and set them on fire until they burn to ash without wincing - you have passed the challenge and are ready for Disney World.

The problem is a $1 deal is too much!

Too add to my previous post - Going to Disney is one of those tortures you’d actually have to pay me to do!

Or, with 7.7 million hits on X, he made back all of his money and more. I have no idea how that works on X, or youtube - but some folks make good money on it.

I went the very first year it opened, I was like 9 or so. Have been going ever since. As time went on, I kept thinking they were going to price themselves out of the market. I read an article that said Disney finds there are enough people, many from out of the country, who are willing to pay the exorbitant prices, that Disney was comfortable raising the prices because people kept buying them. My issue is that at $8000 to $10000, that opens up a lot of other possibilities to compete with an amusement park.

The article didn’t point out Disney is evil.

Better off going to some more local amusement parks. The kids will still have fun and the ripoff factor is far le$$ vs Disney.

Growing up, our vacations involved making sandwiches and a gallon of lemonade and going to the beach for the day. The biggest cost was the tank of gas. Maybe a stop on the way home for a hamburger, but likely as not.

The article says the park and restaurants were packed so why would Disney lower their prices? Law of supply and demand. Prices won’t come down until they see a drop in visitors.

“Why does Disney charge so much money for their theme parks?”

Because they can. Whatever the market will bear for a sustained period of time (i.e. a 2 or 3 consecutive year period), becomes the new baseline of the MINIMUM revenue expected.

A quick says that a post on x with 8 million views can earn $80 to $800. On youtube it can make $24,000 to $48,000. Those ranges depend on how one has the channel set up for ad revenues, etc.

I watch “Camping with Steve” (goofy but relaxing). It is a pretty simple setup that he uses, and he tries to post a youtube once a week. The interweb says he makes about $35k a month from it.
