I saw something on TV here which reminded people the Royals live / hang out in various palaces and there are quite a few of them in England!

It's amazing when you think about it they live quite ostentatiously far beyond most people in huge palaces (or estates), in huge grounds (lol).

Is any of it overly necessary ? It really is good to be King.

I’ve seen articles, and the math, that this ‘ostentations’ lifestyle (Royal stuff) brings in enough tourist related $$ to more than pay for that lifestyle.

Go visit Britain, enjoy the nasty weather and don’t be surprised when many of these “Royal” venues charge you an entrance fee.

Many of the estates used by the Brit royals are property of the Crown, i.e. the UK, and they are in effect museums within their 1,000-year old history, with the royals as head caretakers. Some, but not all. Most of the estates have tour availability to the public either inside or through the extensive gardens that helps support their mainentance. Others have crops or products that are for sale, likewise to offset the salaries of house- or grounds-keepers. Many of the properties rent out space to organizations, various offices of government in Ireland, Scotland and Wales as well as England, and other uses. The royals also pay taxes on the income from their estates.

It wouild take a DOGE to determine if the UK is receiving a fair share of the income from the properties: I'm certain that anti-royalists demand accountings regularly. But the British populace is frequently polled as to whether they want to keep the monarchy or become a republic, and they have so far always voted to keep it.
