Harvard University's president hit back at President Donald Trump on Friday after Trump announced that he would revoke Harvard's tax-exempt status.
Trump's latest threat to the school comes after Harvard filed a federal lawsuit last month alleging that the administration violated the Ivy League university's constitutional rights by freezing more than $2 billion in federal grants and funding.
What To Know Harvard President Alan Garber told The Wall Street Journal that Trump's decision to revoke the school's tax-exempt status is "highly illegal, unless there is some reasoning that we have not been exposed to that would justify this dramatic move."
"Tax-exempt status is granted to educational institutions to enable them to successfully carry out their mission of education, and for research universities, of research," Garber said.
He continued: "Obviously, that would be severely impaired if we were to lose our tax-exempt status. And I should add, it would be destructive to Harvard, but the message that it sends to the educational community would be a very dire one, which suggests that political disagreements could be used as a basis to pose what might be called an existential threat to so many educational institutions."

If Harvard HAD to pay taxes, it might
have chosen to NEVER inflict non-American Obama on America
or non-Indian Warren on Native Americans.
President DJT has a new punching bag and I like it! :)
Harvard U is not used to being treated like thieves. But really they are, with their hedge fund style endowment being taxed at 1.2% due to having a university attached to it.
It’s all right there in Article VIII of the US Constitution. SMH

About that phrase; Somewhere there's an author and editor that need to be slapped.
“Tax-exempt status is granted to educational institutions to enable them to successfully carry out their mission of education, and for research universities, of research,” Garber said.
Non-profits. Biggest problem facing America. They become monstrous. This should be something to consider removing across the board. Tax-exempt, and non-profits elimination would put everyone, and every corporation, at odds with government taxation and spending. Probably the only way now to help control both.
BTTT
‘Highly”?
So, maybe they can parse the degree of ‘illegality’???
Typical legalese BS
“Highly illegal”
That’s rich coming from an Ivy that supports rabid anti-Semitism.
The schools reputation will be left in antisemitic ruins.
And deservedly so.
What a boob. Must’ve gotten his law degree at Harvard
That would also mean churches would have to pay taxes on tithes.
Some people think they should, but the taxes have already been paid by the tithe donors. Taxing churches would be double taxation.
“...which suggests that political disagreements could be used as a basis to pose what might be called an existential threat to so many educational institutions..”
No one is forcing Harvard to take federal funds. They can have political disagreements all they want, but then don’t expect to get taxpayer funding.
Otherwise, embrace the suck you filthy cockroaches. /spit
Let’s send the national guard to harrvaaard to protect the new class of black.
Role reversal memory is nonexistent.
Haaaahvahd is having trouble distinguishing between indoctrination and education. They’ve perfected brainwashing and psyops to a level where people are willing to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars (mostly borrowed) to get dumbed down to the democRAT America-hating sheep level.
And they think that we taxpayers should support them in that effort.
What Constitutional right exists that guaranteed it to be tax exempt, or that it must continue getting Federal Grants?
I like the idea of seeing them in court and finding out what their mission really is, how many laws they are breaking, and how much encouragement and aid they give to our enemies, how much foreign influence there is, etc. Let’s get all of our laundry out and examine it closely. Maybe he has a point. Maybe not.
Nowhere in that statement is indoctrination, even though that's what you do.
The government giveth, and the government taketh away. Get over it.
