This is an excellent video that offers some insight into the troubles China faces surrounding the Three Gorges Dam. Now I disagree with the title that the destruction of the Three Gorges Dam would end civilization as we know it, I do believe it would turn China into a third World country within hours of its collapse. Without a doubt, the Dam is an engineering marvel and one of the modern day wonders of the World. However, the fact remains that this engineering marvel is a ticking time bomb that is actually the biggest problem China faces should they ever decide to attack Taiwan. Does anyone doubt that Taiwan will hesitate to destroy the backbone of China if attacked? Leave it to a bunch of commies to give the enemy an easy target in a war.

This is just my opinion, but I believe China can only take over Taiwan from within, because if they attack militarily, all Taiwan has to do send the majority of their missiles and attack planes to take out the dam. If this happened, then within a few hours, China will lose 1/2 a billion people, and 40% of their economy, which would destroy China while also plunging the world into a temporary recession.

That being said, this video dives into the story of the Three Gorges Dam, explores its massive scale, the engineering challenges it had to overcome, its role in generating energy, and the immense controversies surrounding its construction. From the millions of people that would be killed and displaced in the event of a collapse, to the effects it would have on the rest of the World.

Does Taiwan have any nukes? One small nuke, size of a softball would open that baby up nicely. Prime US target in any war. We have plenty that could take that out. I assume the Red China thugs have an air defense network to defend the dam?

A) 9 Chinese cities would be destroyed,
B) 420 million people would die,
C) China would launch ever nuclear missile it has at the party that caused the destruction, or the CCP would lose face, even beyond the act of greatest mass murder in history.

China will not go to war because it cannot sustain more than a few combat deaths, as the troops’ pay supports their families - the loss of that pay would mean instant poverty for the families, since there are no social services to support them, and all serious medical services require bribes to attain. Nor would they have the money to buy more than traditional remedies at best.

China is good at synchronous military parades and propaganda ( a multi-billion dollar effort ).

They may, but you can only defend so many. If China attacks Taiwan, I can see them sending so many missiles that only one has to hit the dam that would weaken it enough for the water pressure to do the rest.
