Link to Three Gorges Video
Flood zone if and when 3 Gorges fails
This is an excellent video that offers some insight into the troubles China faces surrounding the Three Gorges Dam. Now I disagree with the title that the destruction of the Three Gorges Dam would end civilization as we know it, I do believe it would turn China into a third World country within hours of its collapse. Without a doubt, the Dam is an engineering marvel and one of the modern day wonders of the World. However, the fact remains that this engineering marvel is a ticking time bomb that is actually the biggest problem China faces should they ever decide to attack Taiwan. Does anyone doubt that Taiwan will hesitate to destroy the backbone of China if attacked? Leave it to a bunch of commies to give the enemy an easy target in a war.
This is just my opinion, but I believe China can only take over Taiwan from within, because if they attack militarily, all Taiwan has to do send the majority of their missiles and attack planes to take out the dam. If this happened, then within a few hours, China will lose 1/2 a billion people, and 40% of their economy, which would destroy China while also plunging the world into a temporary recession.
That being said, this video dives into the story of the Three Gorges Dam, explores its massive scale, the engineering challenges it had to overcome, its role in generating energy, and the immense controversies surrounding its construction. From the millions of people that would be killed and displaced in the event of a collapse, to the effects it would have on the rest of the World.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
Yes, something the narrator mentioned.
Wuhan is downstream. That’s a shame.
The assumption that Taiwan could reach the dam and with sufficient effect to collapse it, is naive.
People are ignoring the historical geopolitics of China. China has NEVER bee able to project their power outward.
China is a third world country.
As crazy as it sounds, Beijing could view that as a feature not a bug. It could redirect any potential anger by their subjects against Taiwan and the U.S. (Whether the U.S. was actually complicit in the attack, China will certainly view it that way.), instead of the country's government.
To think they wouldn’t is naive.
Taiwan has a good defense system and the ability to go on the attack if needed. The 3 Gorges is only 784 miles from Taiwan, and they have some our best Jets, and our best missiles to do what they must.
War is hell, and Taiwan will not give a, you know what, if attacked.
I never worry about what others say.
But with a 1st World economy and military to go with it.
True, but then there is no reason for this site.
This site exists because men like me seldom cared what others think when it comes to my opinions, and that my FRiend is why this site has lasted 27 years.
The reason China hasn’t attacked Taiwan is because China doesn’t have a social safety net system of any kind, many (upward of millions) of families depend on a sole breadwinner in the military. Taiwan would put up one hell of a fight and when people start coming home in body bags it could destabilize the communist party. That’s why they haven’t and probably won’t invade Taiwan. Has nothing to do with the damned dam.
Doesn’t our H.A.A.R.P. system also cause earthquakes on demand? See ‘Angel’s don’t play THIS H.A.A.R.P.’ for details.
Flood season is coming up. How much of a nudge would the seasonal weather need?
NO ONE is going to nuke that dam with an ICBM. First the CCP has air defenses all along the way to the dam. So a sea based missile attack would require an hour flight time. Long enough to shoot it down. The attacking party would get one shot at a sneak attack. After that since China would be at war the level of the water in the dam would be greatly reduced.
A sign that the Chineses were in fact preparing for war would be them draining down the water level in the dam to minimize potential damage to the dam.
