Ryanair (NASDAQ:RYAAY) just fired a warning shot and it landed squarely on Boeing's (NYSE:BA) front porch. CEO Michael O'Leary says the airline could cancel its jaw-dropping $33 billion order for 330 Boeing jets if U.S. tariffs start driving up prices. His message? If the aircraft get more expensive because of politics, Ryanair will walk. O'Leary made it clear in a letter to Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi: Ryanair isn't in the business of paying for Washington's trade wars. And if Boeing loses its price edge? He's open to alternatives, even China's Comac.

“unless one calls the tourists who use this airline by that moniker.”
The way many airlines treat passengers they may as well be sheep.
I’ve flown Malaysian air in first class, to United all the way in the back cheap seats across the Pacific ocean.
An aircraft is a certified airworthy vehicle capable of getting people safely from point “A” to “B”.
Whether is is a cattle car or an enjoyable trip is due to
the quality of the people that operate and maintain the vehicle.
Ryan air SUX!
I live on Big island Hawaii, so Aircraft are the quickest way to travel here, off island
and on to the rest of the world.
As a retired Boeing engineer, I have my preferences.
most trips are multiple legs, and if one of those legs was RyanAir I’d change it.

American tariffs don't raise the price of goods manufactured in the USA and sold abroad. The anti tariff crowd is in a frenzy. Quit telling the truth and spoiling the Free Trade head rush.

All of the engine related items on the list could be solved easily by using GE engines. The fan is made in France but that could be easily exempted from Tariffs. Exemptions could be made for all items used to make American products. Of course it could ALL be solved by having European countries drop their Tariffs.

Well if true then the tariff is a great idea. Force Boeing to in source part production.

If 50% of the parts are imported then if might save 1 million per plane. But if plane has a useful life of 20 years then it saves 1,000,000/20 = 50,000/yr. So are all those lost jobs and wages taken from US citizens worth that tiny savings?

Like cheap Chinese tools...generally OK so long as you don't use them too often and limit their exposure to direct sunlight.

Tariffs can be good if they are well planned, and phased in. Just dropping them like a bomb will grind business to a halt.
Boeing can and should make most of this in the US. But it will take years to build out factories, train workers, design new parts. It would be a smarter business choice to do nothing, and see if the tariffs go away.
What’s dumb about the Trump tariffs, is that they tarnish a more rational tariff plan.
