NAEP test scores for America’s most vulnerable students have collapsed — and the timeline tells the story mainstream media won’t: the “Great Awokening” is failing the very kids it claimed it was trying to help.

I think Russia and China have educational systems that exceed ours in STEM subjects. They may indoctrinate their students as well, but their technical results based on my experience are first rate.

Our systems are incompetent technically, and I think the difference is not political but more a lack of discipline here.

The Fauci Flu clearly wasn’t enough, so the Democrat/Communist Party has created the “woke flu” to finish the job ...

Our populace is being dumbed down so our existing representative government can be overthrown and replaced with an authoritarian one. Russia and China aren’t dumbing down their populations to seize power—they already have it. They’re not in the process of overthrowing anything.

That said, you're right that Russia and China excel in STEM—because they value technical competence. But they also tightly control critical thought when it threatens the regime. China doesn’t permit questioning of the CCP, and Russia crushes dissent.

The situation in the U.S. is different. We already had a functioning representative government. The dumbing down here isn’t about managing an existing dictatorship—it’s about creating one. Critical thinking is being dismantled to eliminate the capacity to question authority.

That’s the key difference.

If you don't think it is political, take a good, hard look at the Democratic Party and most university campuses.

Our systems are incompetent technically, and I think the difference is not political but more a lack of discipline here.

The dominance in schools of the ideas of correct pronouns, gender fluidity, experimental sex, the exposure of children to gay porn in schools, that math and science are racist, that our culture is systemically racist, that schools should have control over children (and parents should not), etc. are not the result of incompetence or a lack of discipline.

That took careful planning.

The failure was of the schools that coddled them instead of making them strive for better grades.

Now begins the reset where all students are given the same chance to succeed, instead of holding them back with excuses

What has THAT got to do with the price of eggs in England?

Go back over 100 years ago and black kids in the North/NYC, N.J., etc. were being taught the same was as white kids were and doing well.

Kids from Europe who did NOT speak a word of English were thrown into ENGLISH ONLY classes and after a short while, not only learned English quickly, but were scoring well on tests.

It's all down to WHAT and HOW the subject matter was being taught and by whom. The teachers had been trained in "NORMAL SCHOOLS" and teachers colleges that were taught the same way.

Today, even in THE best and yes, elite schools, the teachers are NOT as well prepared AND what they have to teach, is not only rubbish, but the methods the kids have to us ( especially re math ) is ridiculous.

So ‘teaching’ people they’re victims and that there’s hundreds of genders makes kids stupid and ill equipped to deal with jobs and life and being productive members of society? I’m shocked I tell you - shocked.

Maybe, however it is certain that Home School is far better than Homo School, which is what ALL the others actually are.

Not all public and private schools are terrible ( granted, not as good as they once were...long ago ),but neither are the all of the parents who home school!

OTOH...my sweeping generalization is factual; though no, not all teachers were EVER good, far more were, than they are now and were given better instruction, as well as the tools to BE better.

What does income have to do with learning?

We didn’t have much money growing up. I did just fine.

Thank you both for your posts! I’m in my 29th year as a public school special educator and am always so glad to see other teachers around FR. I don’t think very many FReepers believe conservative teachers actually exist, but here we are. 🤪

Yes, but I was strongly blocked for my views in one school— the union rep who also was DEI was able to keep me from getting a permanent position.
