At 6-foot-6 and 464 pounds, there’s only one thing standing in the way of Desmond Watson’s NFL dreams.
His weight.
The Florida defensive tackle might become the heaviest player ever selected in next week’s draft, but he’s doing everything in his power to make sure that’s not the case.
“Stopping while driving,” Watson said when asked by Fox Sports about what he’s doing to lose weight. “My biggest thing is keep going, get to where I need to get. There are stores and a lot of temptations. That’s helped me immensely: Don’t go inside the gas station. Pay at the pump. Because inside, it’s snacks and all types of things like that. Don’t pull over. If you’re on the highway, stay on the highway until you get where you’ve got to go.” …

Gator Ping!.................
Sounds like a real thinker.
Hope he does well!🐊
:)
Warrior diet. One meal a day. Actually really tough to start, but it gets easy. Fat will drop like a rock within a month.
I do believe this fella had a sibling who died. Correct me if I’m wrong.
With that girth anyone signing him has to know he just might drop.
Would he be goo against the tush push? Yes. He could lone up on offense in 4th and one.
Also CrossFit...
So, how many trips does it take for him to haul ass?
He eventually ballooned up and was playing in other football leagues.
'I'll die in 5 years': Jared Lorenzen speaks candidly about weight in documentary
Jared Lorenzen weighs 500 pounds: “I fight my demons every day”
Actually a decent player. Will have to lose a ton of weight to play on Sunday but will be on a practice squad this fall.
Actually, he’s a very good athlete who would be a great athlete if he were 100 pounds or more lighter.
At UF’s NFL Pro Day workouts, the bench pressed 225lbs 36 times, which is nearly at the top of all NFL prospects.
He ran the 40-yard dash in 5.93 seconds, for 464lbs that is impressive.
Some NFL team will probably draft him late in the draft, if he gets his weight under control, he will have a productive NFL career otherwise he’s looking at real health problems in a few years.
Yep, I remember him. He was actually fairly quick despite his weight, if he had kept his weight under control, even if he still looked hefty, he could have been a decent NFL quarterback.
Maybe they’ll let him run the ball, like “The Fridge”.
If he can’t keep his weight down in Florida with all that money staring him in the face there’s no hope. He could end up like a circus geek. Make one play and it’s a big deal. The NFL loves that stuff. Think The Refrigerator. Died at age 47.
John had a girlfriend, Edith. They were nuts about each other but she was always after him to lose weight after our playing days were over. One day she gave him an ultimatum, that if they were ever to marry, he'd need to slim down. “I'm not going to be a young widow!”.
But John could not stop eating and even grew bigger. Frustrated, he asked me what he could do. I told him it was simple. “You can not have your cake and Edith too!”
If he loses around 100lbs, he could be the next Vince Wilfork who is a hall of famer even though he was 350 or more.
At 464 Watson is not capable of playing more than a couple of plays at a time and still be effective, at 350 or less, he would be an every down player and a real NFL player not some bit player used only in special situations.
How did his college coaches let it get this bad?
I knew a couple college lineman playing at a D3 school, they were known as "the fat boys," but they were out of football by the end of their freshman season.
It’s easy to say, at UF he was 18-21 years old, with no chance of losing his scholarship and was a solid player in short spurts, in the NFL it’s a win or be gone culture, no team is going waste money on him for very long if he stays at 464lbs.
Losing a career can be a big motivator, I hope he realizes that and changes his habits, eating right would allow him to lose weight quickly.
Or he could stay the same weight and fit in with a lot of political “news” anchors.
