Lotsa pea soup, ham and eggs, ham sandwiches.
Freezes well.
Just Say No 🚫 ... to Sequivity® .
Next Sunday, Easter, with green-bean casserole, potato casserole and rolls.
As good as a honey glazed ham is for dinner the best part is making sandwiches out of the leftovers for the next few days. Same with a turkey.
I bought the Easter ham yesterday @ Safeway, $0.97 per pound. A great deal!
‘Spiral-Matic’ from Ronco!
Also the makers of ‘Bass-O-Matic!’ ;)
We always have this at Easter - served room temp - with potato salad, green salad, rolls, corn bread and strawberry shortcake for dessert.
Leftovers are to die for...
Growing up in The South, we never had anything special for Easter Sunday dinners, fried chicken, cornbread, mashed potatoes & gravy, field peas, etc. was standard fare for every Sunday............
I get a kick out of observing the resurrection of the jewish Messiah with a big tasty ham...
Country Ham Sandwiches
Leftover Easter ham, spiral ham, or thinly sliced deli ham is an excellent choice. Smoked cheddar cheese has a distinct smokiness that takes a ham sandwich to the next level. Whole-wheat bread is a wholesome bread for sandwiches because of its delightfully hearty texture.
Garlic-infused spread adds the perfect creamy finish (not to mention flavor!). Mayo brings richness, and sour cream the tang. Garlic powder boosts the flavor. Sandwich toppings: Juicy tomatoes keep the sandwich from feeling dry, and the lettuce contributes a nice, crisp finish.
Ingredients/Directions Prepare the garlic-infused spread w/ mayo, sour cream and garlic powder. Spread evenly over two slices of bread. Layer with cheese, tomato, ham and lettuce. Top with the remaining bread slices.
Variations Add classic toppings like thinly sliced red onion or pickles. Or maybe spicy beer mustard or bourbon peach jam. Try another cheese like Swiss, Gruyere or Havarti. Add more flavor with earthy spinach, crisp cabbage, peppery watercress or spicy arugula.
Experiment with bread: Soft breads like white or wheat bread allow fillings to shine, whereas a chewy roll or crusty baguette adds a robust and satisfying texture contrast.
ROFL! Had to read that twice!
I’m getting a kick out of these, are these real? If so we don’t have enough days in the year to cover everything...
:)
Hahahaha, perfect!
My wife and I were having a discussion last night about Spiral Ham vs. Turkey Breast, because our freezer space is so tight we have nowhere to put these things.
I love to make hot turkey sandwiches with gravy, but...having ham for soups (split pea; pasta e fagioli, etc) ham sandwiches, and with eggs...Spiral ham is much more versatile. Also, it freezes much better than cooked turkey does (if you break it up into separate freezer bags)
But Spiral Ham also takes up a lot more space that we don’t have.
In the end, turkey breasts take up less space, so I told her we should get turkey breasts and see how it goes.
Then she served me pan fried gnocchis with chunks of spiral ham, and I was rethinking my position.
I do love spiral ham!
These are, of course, 1st World decisions!
