days each year — giving plants more time to grow and release allergy-inducing pollen.
The freeze-free growing season lengthened in 87% (172) of 198 U.S. cities analyzed since 1970.
These 172 cities saw their freeze-free season lengthen by 20 days on average.
Cities across the Northwest (+24 days) and Southwest (+20 days) have experienced the largest average change.
The first spring leaves and flowers are unfolding early in parts of the south including in Atlanta, Georgia and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Climate Central assessed temperature trends in 198 U.S. cities to see how the length of the freeze-free growing season has changed from 1970 through 2024 (see Methodology).

Thus the excerpts of the article here ignore the obligatory Climategeddon parts.
However, God does, is and will judge a country that rejects the Light it had, and yields to perversions of what He ordained as right and good. Thus my tag line.
hope you all do not mind me pinging you. I saw no current garden thread.
Funny:
WHAT allergies??? /s
Menwhile the earth is like... Hay man, remember that time in the cenozoic when we had a tropical Antarctica...
Todays’s ping to the April garden thread.

A search for “Garden Thread” brings them all up.

And fifty years ago they were crying about shorter summers and cold weather due to THE COMING ICE AGE!
Interesting note. In the middle of the Coming Ice Age hysteria in 1972, today, April 12, in Tulsa OK the temperature was 102 degrees HOT! Some had 106 on their thermometers.
If you’ve ever heard or read about Dr. Judith Curry, you might rethink whether or not the earth is actually warming. When she discovered that someone was retroactively editing the previous recorded temperatures, she was canned by the elites (Georgia Tech). That’s a very shortened version of what happened, but the fact that she was cancelled told me everything I needed to know.
I’m like you, in that I believe God is in control of all of this.
Thanks. I missed it.
And northern Illinois has been below average temps for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I’m guessing that affected the rest of the Upper Midwest as well. Temps are just getting to seasonal expectations, starting today.
Since ice age kills 10 times more mammals than warm age, rejoice the hear in OK.
What tagline???
You forgot to read mine.
🙄
It snowed in NH today. 3 inches. It was brutal on the roads. I had a truck slide sideways coming down a hill because he forgot how to drive. It hasn’t gotten above 40 degrees since last year. I’m tired of it.
Yes, let off the brakes to steer out of it.
And the older I get, the more I find myself minding the cold and lack of activity. But warmer days shall come.
When the cold cycle comes back I wonder what they will blame it on?
Not often or carefully enough, I tend to read what I wanted to say. though with stiff arthritic typo-fingers, I do look for misspelled words being marked. However, I also usually have little problem deciphering what other persons were trying to say when what they write is somewhat unclear.
However, it seems a course in ENGL 103 or 104 is a prerequisite to comprehend the manifesto seen below (truncated, and paragraphs added), "Reading and Writing Gender and Sexuality ENGL 214," which is the work of a feminist wordcrafter in wokeducation:
"...intersections with race, ethnicity, coloniality, class and ability, the sex/gender system of oppression has long served as a taxonomizing apparatus. And yet, the literary, in league with anticolonial, civil rights and LGBTQ social movements,..animates the liberatory potential of imagining embodied relations otherwise. At once world-building and world-shattering, representations of gender and sexuality can leverage critiques against normativity... Taking our transnational cue from subjugated knowledges and intersectional epistemologies, we’ll constellate the diverging genealogies and methodologies... Against the traffic of binary opposition, we’ll index the possibilities of intimacy and performativity...
As a class collective, our aim is to read and reread as well as write and rewrite texts that interrogate and complicate how gender and sexuality, as contested sites of pleasure and pain, are embodied and experienced."
This counts toward the methods requirement for the major. Prerequisite: ENGL 103 or 104. Open only to first-year and sophomore students.
Author is Brianna Thompson, who teaches courses in American women’s literature, queer theory and utopias/Afrofuturism at Kenyon college (founded by Episcopal Bishop in 1824). https://www.kenyon.edu/academics/departments-and-majors/english/academic-program-requirements/courses-in-english/
Check out the forecast for Monday.
Supposed to be sunny and in the 60’s!
Same here.
I wish we were able to do the snowbird thing but it just doesn't work out for us.
Yes, for 3 days, then Sun + praise God. I would like to put the squash out to harden them.
Yes, but being in the Lord's will is most important.
