Hi professor.

I extensively hunted that area many moons ago. An abundance of all kinds of game. We even had a permit to hunt the Georgia Pacific lands (huge tree farm). From Route 6 to Route 460.

Anyway, back then the Appomattox C H was still an operational court house. Not saying how I know that..

Tonight, April 8, 1865, near Mobile, Alabama, my great grandfather served on guard duty for the 119th Illinois Volunteers (Col. Kinney) of 1st Brigade (Col. Rinaker), 2nd Division (BG Girrard), XVI Corps (MG Andrew Jackson Smith), Army of West Mississippi (MG Edward R. S. Canby).

Tomorrow, April 9, at Fort Blakely, he will fight in his unit's last of 10 battles and 5 skirmishes in 6 major campaigns.
