Police have been forced to deny that a teen who was fatally stabbed at a track meet in Texas died from an ecstasy overdose and not a stab wound.
Frisco authorities have issued multiple statements denying unfounded rumors regarding the death of Austin Metcalf, 17, who was stabbed at the Kuykendall Stadium last week by another 17-year-old, Karmelo Anthony, according to police.
A viral post that falsely claimed to be from the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office said Metcalf died from an 'MDMA drug overdose' and that the stab wound was a secondary factor.
'The Frisco Police Department is aware of an image circulating on social media purporting to be a report from the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office,' police said in a statement Friday. 'At this time, the report has NOT been released. Therefore, any information currently found online is FALSE.'
Shilson also denied a fake viral post that claimed to be from him and claimed Metcalf was stabbed during a 'mutual combat altercation' after he 'sucker punched' Anthony. The hoax post also said Metcalf 'smashed [Anthony]’s phone onto one of the bleachers.'
'Beware of those taking to social media to deliberately spread misinformation, hate, fear and division,' Shilson said, in reference to posts shared online highlighting that Metcalf is white and Anthony is black.
'Violence cannot be the go-to means that our young people use as their only way to resolve disputes. We must have conversations about what guides their decisions and motivations,' the chief added.
Chief Shilson said his department will investigate the source of the misinformation under third-degree felony charges of impersonation, as reported by Click 2 Houston.

‘At this time, the report has NOT been released. Therefore, any information currently found online is FALSE.’
That does not logically follow. Only officially released reports can be true? In numerous Texas cases the exact opposite is true. The Uvalde shooting is a classic example.
“said Metcalf died from an ‘MDMA drug overdose’ and that the stab wound was a secondary factor.”
Absurd.
“The hoax post also said Metcalf ‘smashed [Anthony]’s phone onto one of the bleachers.”
Trayvon all over again.
Lie machine in high gear.
This seems somehow tied to George Floyd. People mad about Floyd likely having overdosed making this up to equal things out?
ya... forced to...
and the dems obviously have expanded their projecting boundaries. picking up the Floyd OD narrative... fkn pathetic...
Black community circling the wagons. 🙄
They’re trying to REVERSE Goerge Floyd this young man?
Sick!!
Yeah, the knife in the heart was only a flesh wound.
The teen confessed to the crime. He said the victim put his hands on him.
So why would them people lie?
Yeah ... his heart ‘sploded milliseconds before the knife pierced it.
The perp needs to be tried as an adult for murder and executed shortly after conviction.
What does the autopsy report say?
“The teen confessed to the crime. He said the victim put his hands on him.”
Wait? Are you actually giving an ethnic person benefit of the doubt?
Pure Heresy! We know they are NEVER innocent or tell the truth!
This is an easy question to resolve.
I don’t often use pejoratives but!
You idiot!
The chief is referring to fake autopsy reports allegedly released by the County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The autopsy reports from the ME have not been filed yet according to the Chief of Police and there likely will have to be a FOIA request and response prior to its release to the press or the public.
Referring to information in the fraudulent reports as false was a relatively narrow procalamation, he did not say everything online is false!
Please read and comprehend before offering your perspective.
You put your hands on an ethnic person, and you gonna get stabbed.
Even if you trespass in they tent.
/teen logic
You are the idiot. The fact that the report hasn’t been released doesn’t mean someone didn’t take a pic of it and it it out there.
Maybe the pic is the report, but it just hasn’t been released. Or maybe it’s fake. But the fact that the report hasn’t been released does not falsify what is out there.
Especially in a highly charged case with racial issues.
“Referring to information in the fraudulent reports as false was a relatively narrow procalamation, he did not say everything online is false!”
And reports are prematurely leaked all the time. Might be real, might not.
There isn’t one yet.
And toxicology reports take about six weeks.
