A man who was arrested after leaving his children in a McDonald's to attend a job interview has received an outpouring of support from the general public.
Chris Louis, a 24-year-old father from Augusta, Georgia, took his 10-year old, 6-year old, and 1-year old children to a McDonald's with a playground close to where his job interview was on March 22, and left them for a short time so he could try to get employment, according to The Augusta Press.
A customer called the police, and Louis was arrested and charged with "deprivation of a minor." Now, his story has caught the attention of the public, including ex-NFL player Antonio Brown, who set up a GoFundMe to support Louis and his family.

I wondered about being a father at 14 too.
I think he was doing the best he could, trying to make money to support them.
How is arresting/sentencing this guy, who wants to work, going to help his 3 kids??
Was it for a job interview? Do we know that?

Whoever caught him was going to shoot him, but he said that “if you shoot me you have to feed my 12 kids” so they let him go. Even Bluebellies had some sense at one time.
yeah I don’t have a problem with this
Well he got Antonio Brown on his side…. Must be a stand up fella.
As far as leaving my kids anywhere at those ages is insane. There is no world where there is isnt another way to get this interview done.
I’m not going to hate on him either. I mean... it would have been better to find someone to watch the 1 year old, but the 10 and 6 year olds... if there was no other option... It’s not ideal, but I’m glad people are stepping up to help.
That’s what the article says-—no car, the McDonald’s was close to the interview, so he brought the kids there so as to leave them alone for less than two hours (and probably to be a few minutes away if difficulties developed) rather than leave them at home for more than two hours and to be further away if difficulties developed.
He gets full marks from me for the day. I’m guessing Mom has a job and was working so couldn’t watch the kids.
“Your parents dropped you off at McDonald’s when you were one?”
No but I was babysitting babies that age when I was 10. I made enough money starting at age 10 to buy a horse at age 14.
The same Antonio Brown who rapes and beats women? The guy who was arrested for missing child support payments?
Without knowing more details, he deserves a break on this. He was trying to do the right thing. I realize it’s a changed world from when I was young, but my brother and I at 10 and 8 would frequently take care of ourselves.
He could have taken them to the interview. Would show the perspective employer he’s responsible and really wants the job at the very least.

That may say something about your kids. See post 31.
It is possible that something was lined up and fell through, but even if that is not the case it sounds like other than dropping the kids into a nest of Karens, everything went fine.
My youngest two aren’t up to watching a one-year old who isn’t potty trained, and I doubt that my third born was ever up to doing diapers, but watching kids in a play area that has one easily controlled entrance is easier than watching them around home. Provided that the kids aren’t holy terrors, it seems a good enough set up to me in a sane world. Except for the Karens, far superior to putting them on screens.
But this didn't happen "In your day".
10 year olds babysitted all the time when I was growing up.
You don’t leave 1 yr olds alone without adult supervision. Sorry you just don’t, at least not in the world I live in. There’s no excuse for it.
I would rather that the police assign a caseworker to him for a limited time to make sure everything was okay. Sad that he had no one, a relative or neighbor, he believed he could call upon for a couple of hours.
If I were the judge here, his sentence would be to get a job and work that job supporting his family. Maybe issue a fine for leaving the kids alone but one of the kids was 10. I went out all the time by myself to shops when I was 10.
