The influencers who want the world to have more babies - and say the White House is on their side

Pronatalists, a controversial fringe group almost exclusively from the political right, claims that some of the most powerful people in the US government are sympathetic to their cause. But how much influence do they really have?

Simone Collins is sitting in her 18th century cottage in Pennsylvania, dressed in a black pilgrim pinafore with a wide collar, bouncing one of her four children on her lap. It is 8.30am and she looks a little tired – she runs several businesses, a foundation and is currently pregnant with her fifth child, though she and her husband Malcolm plan to have more.

"At least seven," she declares, "and as many as I can physically carry - 12 would be even more brilliant."

The US couple, aged 37 and 38, ardently believe that the world needs to have more babies or risk civilisational collapse. They have become the poster children for pronatalism, a movement that believes falling birth rates are a big problem for society. And that big families are the answer.

Since Donald Trump was sworn in as US President for the second time earlier this year, they have taken their evangelising to a new level. The Collinses now see certain people in the White House as potential allies - and they fully intend to capitalise on that.

Elon Musk, who is said to have fathered 14 children, has called fertility decline "the biggest danger civilisation faces, by far". He has donated $10m (£7.75m) to the Population Wellbeing Initiative in Texas, which conducts research into fertility, parenting, and the future of population growth.

The US Vice President JD Vance has also spoken openly about his views on procreation. At an anti-abortion rally in January he declared: "I want more babies in the United States of America."

Movies need to have more families, happy married couples like they used to, shows where the announcement of pregnancy was a cause for celebration. I don’t think we can ever get Hollywood out of the grips of the Chinese, but movies can be made elsewhere.

The Chinese are encouraging babies, and their TV shows present basically healthy relationships. It is against the law for homosexuals to be portrayed on Chinese TV.

Yes but that is for them, they finance the opposite for here. We need God back in our society. There are kids out there with no hope, they are acting like savages and a part of that is what they see daily.

God bless these people.

They and Elon are right. Does us know good to straighten out the corruption in the country if population growth is in negative numbers.

The generation that lived together before marriage to save money won’t have children for a long long time they are addicted to the paychecks. Many young mothers want to be a stay at home mother and can’t. They probably never will. Many are the primary breadwinners. The stay at home mother lifestyle could save this country. Strong families, strong neighborhoods smarter children and values.

All the childless cat ladies should do their part. One child and let the local church congregation raise it. It takes a village.

Can we all admit it would be good for their health both physical AND emotional?
They’re screwed up but it would make them part of something.

“Pronatalists, a controversial fringe group”

Everything and anything is easily made “controversial” just by labeling it that. Thus, this heavily abused word has lost its significance.

“Fringe” is also cringe (unless you’re talking about the TV series created by J.J. Abrams). “Fringe” is just a way to negatively describe something that not many people do. It’s just another of many words that have become part of the weaponization of language by the enemedia.

These alleged journalists can’t sleep at night without thinking up some new evil thing to say. As Rush used to call them, they are “drive-by media”. In this case, it’s more of a hit-and-run accident. They need to get a real job.

Wow! Terrible main example (goofy looking, IVF choosing intelligent embryos, weird mindset) plus the condescending tone?

My daughter’s friends are having lots of babies, most of them have 4 kids now, some have 5 or 6. Most are stay-at-home Moms (& some work from/stay-at-home Dads) — the majority are Homeschooling & they’re in a co-op together. Nice, normal, churchgoing families full of love.

My daughter has a boy & a girl, and would likely have had more, but she had pregnancy complications, so they had to stop at those 2.

This isn’t a weird cult or “quiver full” church, they just love & cherish their kids and are blessed enough to have the means to support a big family — & some (including my daughter & family) live in multi-generational households, which seems to be making a comeback.

Pronatalists, a controversial fringe group

It says something about the absolute extremism of the leftist media that they think wanting to have children and not self-exterminate is "controversial."
