George Foreman, heavyweight boxing icon and business entrepreneur, has died.
He was 76 years old.
His family announced the news on his Instagram page on Friday night.
“Our hearts are broken,” the caption read on the post. “With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr. who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. Rest in peace, George! You were a champion in the ring. And a bigger champion outside of it!
One of my favorites, too. This came as a shock.
RIP
Prayers of comfort for his loved ones...
Grilled burgers not good for us? I’ll take my chances! 🙂
R.I.P., George. 🙏
That is getting it done, preacher. Good job! Now eternity.
Speaking of William Shatner, tomorrow is his birthday.
RIP, Mr. Foreman.
How much better could it be to be have 12 children wit all the boys named after you. Maybe better if Mrs. Forman had a chance to name some of her kids maybe but she may have agreed or even chosen the names.
RIP. Condolences to his family and friends.
I always liked him. Two stories I remember:
He trained for fights by chopping wood behind his house.
One of his kids said that after a fight, he’d lay on the couch and moan for a week.
Fighter, entrepreneur, and character, RIP.
Even before he turned pro, George set himself apart from many of his colleagues.During the 1968 Olympics where protesting from the victory stand was en vogue, George won his gold medal and danced a victory trot around all four corners of the ring with a small American flag. When quizzed about the flag during the Vietnam Era, George replied simply to Howard Cosell, “I love my country.”
Seems many in our country loved him too.
RIP.
RIP George Foreman.
I am sad. 76 is too young in this day. He was an enormous talent, a person of faith, and by all accounts, a wonderful person. RIP.
When Dick Cavett asked him what happened at the "Rumble in the Jungle", Foreman smiled and stated he was outsmarted.
oh no, that sucks!
I’m getting to used to people living into their 80s and beyond.
I liked George. He seemed like a good guy.
Exactly. Just after the beat the living **** out of the Soviet heavyweight. For that alone he and his kin are in our hearts.
He was a tough guy. Fought well in his comeback.
And very astute. He noticed when Morrison’s punches weren’t stinging as much...it turned Morrison already had HIV and was getting weaker.
George said there would have been no stopping the guy if that didn’t happen.
Both deceased now...one lied to a decent age and had what seems to be a very good life.
One crashed and burned. Sad.
Oldest heavyweight champ in history at age 45.
