That’s a LOT of mimes.

Fortunately, since they’re mimes, they don’t have to speak Russian.

Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were ALL FOR depriving other countries of defensive measures when their bacon wasn’t on the line.

The very definition of Hypocrisy.

Interesting, the title at TVP is ---

"Poland and Baltics say they intend to withdraw from anti-landmine convention"

Your post title is --

"Poland aims for up to a million mines on eastern borders amid Russia threat"

And "million" as a word does not appear in the article. Why not report the title correctly?

More mask, ventilator... crap. Politicians “showing action” in crisis.

Russia doesn’t have the capability to keep rolling beyond Ukraine. They can barely manage Ukraine and need to partially nationally mobilize just for this.

A conflict with NATO (combined manpower strength more than 6 times Russia and her allies, the US alone 10 times Russias defense budget) isn’t even remotely feasible. These are made up unrealistic scenarios about as feasible as the North Koreans invading the US: https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1234719/

Furthermore, their military ambitions do not even include all of Ukraine. This is a limited conflict (SMO) where Russia has a specific political and military goal (block NATO accession and seize ethnic Russian areas in East).

This is junk, the whole war was friggin stupid.

As the Poles waste their money laying mines which one day need removed, let’s just hope they do it in a way that doesn’t cause some kid to get killed or crippled. Mines often grow legs and move around in the soil (rain etc). Modern mines are often non magnetic. But I’m sure when some kid or farmer gets blown up, that too will be the Russians fault. Everything is Russia’s fault ever since Hillary Clinton lost.

When has Russia declared any intent to invade NATO?

They can barely handle Ukraine.

War hysteria had a lot to do with the first WW.

and the best part about these Polish mines? Russia can’t fly planes and drones over them. And forget about artillery.

Poland will protect it’s 130 mile border with Russia.

In the last century they were invaded by Germany, divided by Germany and Russia and then invaded by Russia and politically occupied by Russia’s Polish stooges. They won’t let it happen again. They have not only lived up to but exceeded the demands of being a NATO partner in terms of their spending on their military defenses.

The mines will also help keep out the “migrants”.

I do remember getting to see the East Germans blow some of their border mines back in the 80s.

Leaving the 1997 treaty, which has been ratified or acceded to by more than 160 nations but not by Russia, will allow Poland and the three Baltic countries to start stockpiling landmines again.

Good for them.

Good on them. There will also be a side effect — illegals will go up too.

Why not put them along Meccico border?

So, anymore Ukrainian refugees fleeing will run the risk of being blown up a land mine if they crossover into Poland?

How lovely.
