I did a year subscription of Duolingo to learn Czech. It kept repeating the most ridiculous phrases about sheep, donkeys and goats. One phrase was “We are looking for a big donkey and a large machine.” In what fricking situation would I ever need to know that sentence? I just wanted to learn how to get to the metro station or order at a restaurant and the damn thing kept talking about animals that I never even saw when I was last there.
YES! You absolutely should. It protects your privacy. It protects you from a lot of malware and adware that would otherwise be loaded onto your computer. It shields you from detection when you download torrents.
Virtual Private Network.
So the porn watchers also have to have a vpn? Seems like they might be in cahoots with the vpn companies to allow them to watch the stuff.
VPNs are like cryptocurrency. Sure, you can use it to hide movement between yourself and someone else from ALMOST everyone .....everyone, that is, except the venue’s owner. Of course, the feds would know this fact, and would be constantly searching the venue for shady transactions. So using cryptocurrency or a VPN would provide the feds with a quick shakeout of the cacophony legitimate transactions to single out a user’s illegitimate transactions.
Phew... I’m covered then.
If you have W11 you probably have copilot, do a search for it.
No idea what your post is trying to say.
Guy at lunch? China-made card? Card calling China? China calling guy at lunch? Chinese flood at lunch tasting like cardboard? Possibilities are endless…
I’m finding more and more websites that block you if using a VPN. Many times you get an error or blank page. Turn off VPN and refresh page and the connection goes right through.
With youtube, I get Sign in to prove you’re not a bot. Turn off VPN and I don’t get that.
The only thing it’s useful for to me is to lessen the tracking and targeted ads. I don’t know if I’ll bother renewing. Might just use Brave more and use a free VPN.
Have you looked into SA?
Thanks, so how does it work and how do you access it?
The trick is to have an older PC. When Win10 wouldn't quit asking I finally said "Sure, do it".
Win comes back and say my hardware is too old. So I said "Then STF up about it".
Search VPN...you will find many...we use “Express”
K, thanks.
Yes. Mind you I don’t. But everybody should. The internet is a wild place, and you just don’t know who is where. An extra layer of anonymity is good.
My computer doesn’t have enough space so I get error messages, but that doesn’t stop the Microsoft update from trying again, again, and again.
Hoo Boy - How much coffee have you had??
Anyway, lessee here...
“Guy at lunch?” - Yup.
“China-made card?” - Yup, China-made Cisco ethernet card.
“Card calling China?” - Yup. Ain’t happening, closed network. No connection to the outside world. Still misbehaving though....
“China calling guy at lunch?” - How’d they know he was at lunch?? We were 90 miles from nowhere.
“Chinese flood (food?) at lunch tasting like cardboard?” - Hey - Whoa there. We had a nice dining facility with excellent cooks and staff. “We all beat anorexia” *grin*
Seriously - They fed us good. Too good for some.
You Take Care.
There’s a reason that in the 1990s the NSA started building their own computers.
