This medical test may cause cancer due to ‘unfathomable’ mistake — and it’s performed 93M times a year in the US

As the federal government investigates America’s chronic disease epidemic, some experts are warning that a popular diagnostic tool may be a contributing factor. CT scans, a go-to for diagnosing everything from tumors to infections to bone fractures, are facing increased scrutiny. Experts say the radiation doses they deliver can vary dramatically — and often exceed what’s necessary.

“Many patients still routinely receive radiation doses two or three times what they should,” said Dr. Rebecca Smith-Bindman, a professor at the University of California-San Francisco medical school. “That will lead to cancer in a small percentage of patients, approximately 36,000 cancers every year.”

What are CT scans?

Computerized tomography is a medical imaging procedure that uses X-rays to create detailed, three-dimensional images of the body. Every year, an estimated 93 million CT scans are performed in the US, up from just 3 million in 1980. The surge isn’t accidental — these machines have revolutionized diagnostics, reducing the need for invasive procedures like exploratory surgeries, per Harvard Health.

Mankind survived and thrived for tens of thousands of years without any of these procedures.

“Mankind” did, perhaps. But many more individuals died and life expectancy was much lower.

The insurance companies want to eliminate 90% of the machines and approved scans. So they have to start putting out stories that the scanners are dangerous.

Yeah, to an average age of about 27

True, humans survived millions of years without farming, refrigeration, vaccines, pain killers, surgery, etc.
But himan population exploded after all these were invented and put in action.

I have been reading that breast cancer biopsies and tumor removal can break the sac that the body has built around the tumor and cause the cancerous cells to spread.

“And that’s why they banned fluoroscopes. The operators couldn’t shield themselves.”

I remember using one to look at my feet at the Golden Goose Shoes department at Harvey’s in Nashville in the 50s.

Kudos to you for watching out for your own health instead of being pressured into something by the "experts."

Just for grins, I took my own geiger counter to my last CT just to find out for myself. I clocked over 40,000 CPM (Counts per Minute) an hour after the test, and was still registering a 1000 the next day. However, I am fighting liver cancer, so I am checked by CT at least twice per year. I have at least 4 MRIs per year, but they don’t use radiation so are not as hazardous. I was amazed that when I asked the technicians about this, they were clueless. The best they could offer was that their management made them wear radiation badges, which were checked regularly.

The liver stores iron and vitamin a. Having more than one needs can create problems. If one has excess iron, bloodletting reduces it. Foods have enough vitamin a, so one should avoid things with retinol supplements (retinol is a type of vitamin a) such as skim milk or multivitamins.

As do I. Some would go in with just that intent and no desire for shoes. Just how long was the average employee life span?
