Ukrainian and U.S. officials held crunch talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to find a path towards ending the war with Russia, hours after Kyiv's forces launched their largest drone attack on Moscow to date.

"The meeting has begun very constructively," Andriy Yermak, Zelenskiy's chief of staff who is leading the Ukrainian delegation, wrote on Telegram.

Ukraine overnight launched its biggest drone attack on Moscow yet, deploying at least 91 drones, killing at least three people, sparking fires, closing airports and forcing dozens of flights to be diverted, Russian officials said.
The strike - in which 337 drones were downed over Russia, according to Moscow - appeared aimed at showing Kyiv can also land major blows after a steady stream of Russian missile and drone attacks, one of which killed 14 people on Saturday.

Unfortunately drones don’t hold territory.
-Ukrainian and U.S. officials held crunch talks in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday-
That is strange. Why would Ukrainian and U.S. talks happen in Saudi Arabia?
This is pretty much a terrorist campaign against the Russian people with a goal of stirring up public anger against Ukraine in the Russian people to destroy public support for Putin engaging in peace talks and to frustrate President Trump's plan for a negotiated peace.
Zelensky touts his drones as the best the world has ever seen but they cannot even hold a candle to Hitler's V-2 from 80 years ago.
They are pretty much flying claymores from the looks of the damage patterns so they do minimal damage to military targets and are just being used as terror attacks against random civilians.
Not sure this is the kind of military policy that the US should be supporting and it shows that President Trump's decision to terminate the Ukraine's access to US real time ISR was a very wise decision.
This attack really highlights both the fact the Ukrainian leadership is not ready for peace and that the Ukraine is falling apart militarily.
Touting a terror attack by three or four hundred flying claymore mines against civilian targets as a major and presumably best effort military offensive on the part of the Ukraine is just flat pathetic in strength and disgusting in concept.
This is Hamas style stuff, but even the Hamas water pipe missiles were more effective than Zelensky's drones. And the current Zelensky strategy of using the shameful misery and destruction in Ukraine as a propaganda weapon is looking more and more like Hamas in Gaza every day.
Perhaps those three hundred drones would have been better used against legit military targets to try to blunt the Russian offensive that is encircling and cutting off the doomed Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region. No shortage of legit Russian military targets that desperately need destroying there for sure.
Sad, but Zelensky and his band of dead enders in the Ukraine and NATO seem bound and determined to see the Ukraine go down in total defeat before they will see a negotiated peace with Russia.
At least they can blame defeat on President Trump which seems to be their current strategy.
Same as V1 and V2.
Ukraine is losing ground, every day.
Eventually they’ll get depleted, i.e. burn through a generation of men.
Horrible.
Nor do 19 casualties turn the tide of war. This "major" attack sure is flaccid.
Wonder weapons are often overrated. Three thousand V2 rockets killed something like 9,000 citizens in England, which is quite a lot. On the the other hand, it is only three per rocket. Given the cost to develop them and then to manufacture them, that is lousy yield. V2 rockets killed over 19,000 people in German territory during the manufacturing process.
The overall affect of these things is negligible.
Even those had no affect on the war. See my post #6.
Ukraine was holding 1,300 sq klm of their big prize, Kursk land, a few months ago. Russia will control that land before starting negotiations. Over the last 4 months, the area shrunk from 1,300 sq klm to about 360. In the last two days Russia has taken 100 sq klm and thousands of Ukrainian troops are trapped with no way out. Some have negotiated surrender by offering up equipment in exchange for their lives.
Once Russia clears the salient talks might begin.
They are running out of HIMARS missiles but they still have the warheads to scavenge.
What's also strange is that we are holding talks at all. How long does it take to say: "we're stopping payments, and also arms shipments. If you ever decide to hold peace talks, we'll attend."
Surprised Reuters let this truth slip out.
Well, I guess those drones mated in mid-flight since almost 4 times the number launched were shot down
Summary: Russia doesn't want to go into any negotiations with Ukraine having any leverage. So Russia will take this back before they talk.
Just some random thoughts:
You have 1,400 miles of border. Not every area is battle space. Kursk was a good move by the Ukraine. Find a weak spot and take the initiative at least in that area for a while. The Russians played it smart too. They didn't drop everything and focus on Kursk. They kept their eye on what their true objective is and dealt with Kursk as they could without sacrificing their offensive operations elsewhere.
What I find amazing in this conflict is how modern tech regards battlefield surveillance, artillery and air power (difficult to create concentration), drones, have turned the battle-space into something reminiscent of WWI, fighting in trenches spread out over long fronts.
And in the end this war will finish the way everyone knew it would 3 years ago. Just with a lot fewer young men.
Ukrainian Govt attacks x causing outage... per Elon Musk
Ukraine doubles down on atupid.
Meanwhile in Kursk Russia dirches the vaunted SHIVELS and beguns swinging MOPS.
Zelinski is a billionaire and the USA needs to arrest him and recover stolen funds.
You nailed them.
Ukrainians don’t want peace. They most likely attacked Moscow to drive Putin away from the negotiating table. The Ukraine pulled the same tactic when Putin’s willingness to negotiate became an optics problem - so Ukraine launched an attack on citizens, ambulances etc. in Kursk with their ultimate objective being the Kursk nuclear power plant.
At the time, Putin noted that there was no point in trying to negotiate if Ukraine was attacking Russian citizens.
Attack on Moscow is again, an attack on citizens and this is yet another attempt to keep the war going until they can get American involved somehow - false flags or whatever Ukraine and NATO can come up with.
Ukraine had hoped to capture a nuckear plant and nuclear weapons just beyond their Kursk graveyard... they got heldup in Suzja and then lied about why they went there.
The AFU could not advance, nor retreat so they settled into holding their own self inflicted killzone.
And if anyone doubts that, they can go back and read the posts. Hahaha
Some of us knew how this will end, even before it started.
We also knew what this meant: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/ukrainian-president-zelenskiy-holding-talks-with-biden-adviser-says-2021-12-09/ (The count down timer was set off)
A predictable war and outcome, that was unnecessary, and was very much so “provoked.”
