Zelensky: I’ll come back to the negotiating table

Volodymyr Zelensky said he is “ready to come to the negotiation table as soon as possible” with Donald Trump to secure peace.

After Washington halted military aid for Ukraine, Mr Zelensky said it was “regrettable” what happened in their Oval Office meeting and told the US president that “it is time to make things right”.

“None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians,” the Ukrainian leader said, praising Mr Trump’s “strong leadership”.

No more Oval Office meetings, however.

Nice catch. Reminiscent of “flatten the curve” or “slow the growth” of covid.

Trump didn’t ask Zelensky to come back to the negotiating table, he asked him to sign an agreement.

How can we do business realistically with the guy who’s taking marching orders from the Democratic Party? Can you imagine the corruption that will go on with the mineral deal? We want a new leader in the Ukraine. This guy is unstable. We also need Doge to do a complete review of where the money was spent.

Your boy blinked
As he should have
I suspect despite the public Euro pronouncements of “we’ll go it alone we got your back”
Privately they were saying Man U gotta fix this and don’t let those nevertrumper USA democrats get in your damn head
Especially right before what was supposed to be a celebratory televised dog and pony
You tell he pissed off Vance and the Old Man

I’ve never seen anything like that in 67 suns

That’s my sentiment.

Trump let him know that Antony Blinken, Victoria Nuland, and Alexander Vindman are no longer in charge of anything, and Trump is not gunning for WWIII like they were. The USAID money is gone, the military aid is gone, US membership in NATO is in question, and Zelensky has to know that Trump would not be afraid to say Ukraine can go it on its own on EVERYTHING. Offering to tie US economic interests to Ukraine is a very generous offer.

Zelensky is still saying that the minerals deal would be the start of more robust security pledges, so I’m not sure he is at the point he needs to be. I don’t know if he’s accepted that Trump will NEVER put US troops in Ukraine. That is probably the question that Trump will base his decision on, as to how to deal with Zelensky’s desire to come back to the table. And I trust his discernment on this.

But the Ukrainian and Russian people are all being held hostage at this point, and it needs to stop. I think Trump cares more about that than he does about revenge or appearances. He wants to use diplomacy to end the bloodshed. And I’m hopeful that it will work.

Trump has done business with guys who would make Zelinsky evaporate with a look. He’s an annoyance that even the Europeans recognize as a problem. Stopping the bleeding and $billions lost, and getting Russia (Putin is as much part of the deal as Stalin was in ‘41-’45) on side (and out of Xi’s orbit) for the first time since Clinton bombed the $*** out of the Serbs, are the end games.

Goodnight and thank you, Zelenski
You’ve completed your task
What more could we ask of you now?
Please sign the book on your way out the door
That will be all
If we need you, we’ll call
But I don’t think its likely somehow

I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.

None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.

We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.

We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.

Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.

Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.

That’s a real sore point with Trump; he couldn’t get past Steve Bannon’s “casual” look, and I recall he criticized Sean Spicer for not wearing a dark suit. He obviously looks upon one’s appearance as a sign of respect, especially in the Oval Office.

Why?
