How Much Has the U.S. Spent on Ukraine in the War?
WSJ ^ | 2/27/2025 | Isabel Coles

President Trump says the U.S. has spent $350 billion on the war in Ukraine—a figure that is at odds with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s tally, as well as U.S. government agencies and Western think tanks.

The cost of the war has been at the center of negotiations over a mineral-rights deal that would compensate the U.S. for its wartime assistance. Ukraine agreed to the deal after the U.S. dropped its demand for up to $500 billion in revenue from mineral development there, according to people close to negotiations. That far exceeds the value of aid provided by the U.S., according to Zelensky, who puts the figure at $100 billion.

How much has the U.S. given to Ukraine?

Congress has voted through five bills appropriating a total of $175 billion for Ukraine in the three years since Russia’s invasion, according to a January report from the Congressional Research Service.

The Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a research group in Germany, has calculated that about $120 billion of the appropriated funds have been allocated to programs that directly support Ukraine. Of that amount, the U.S. has provided $67.3 billion in the form of weapons and other military assistance. Budget support—which helps Ukraine’s government pay the salaries of civilian government employees, healthcare workers and first responders—accounts for $49 billion. The remaining $3.6 billion was spent on humanitarian aid.

It seems POTUS' strategy of overstating the amount spent on ukes - if that's what it was, and not merely a mis-speak - has worked:

We now have both studied analysis by the media and thrust in the face of a financially struggling US electorate.

FWIW, $175 billion is almost $7,000,000 per hour for the 36 months of the war, or $1875 per second.

The rest of the piece analyzes the full cost of the war and sourcing.

Full disclosure: Not fact checked.

Well, how many billions also went to Ukraine from the USAID slush fund? I think we sent much more than the 175 billion figure presented.

Oh, I didn’t intend to go ‘there’...this was just a factoid about the actual $$ and the fact that now the amount is undeniable.

Better, there are fewer leftist media pundits to further muddy the waters.

They tried to hide it for so long. Brilliant POTUS strategy, if that’s what it was.

The wef house of cards is collapsing. lol

It’s actually more.
The reason it’s hard to figure out is that the Biden regime reported fragments of funding from different outlets, each time phrasing its remarks as if that was the total.
For example, on Whitehouse.gov you might read a certain amount $75 Billion. But that’s only from Biden’s portion.
From the Sec of Defense, you might read 47 Billion, but that’s just from that dept.

I posted (but can I find it) a Council of Foreign Relations doc saying it was $175 Billion, and later from a different source (Sec of State or?) we were told due to an accounting error, they ‘found’ another $14 Billion to give to Ukraine - this discovery came just as Congress turned down additional funding.
So the last sum I was aware of was $189 Billion and I think that was around August of last year, when Biden kept giving.

I assume I was missing funds because of the intentional way reporting dispersed, and now I wonder just how much was in USAID and countless other NGOs.
And we have to remember the Treasury signed away 4.7 Trillion without writing down where it went. The Defense dept. fails audits. Who knows how much really went to Ukraine, and right back to the DNC in ‘donations.’

WSJ is lying, they are not including things like the money Biden gave them to provide for Ukrainian pensions and the USAID to rebuild the electric grids.

President trump is talking in total, the WSJ is lying by only saying what was given directly for war fighting.

Zelensky tried to use the standard line that if we don’t stop Russia in Ukraine, they’ll be in our back yard next. So the money he gets from us is working in our interest, and he doesn’t owe us anything. That may work in Europe, but Trump isn’t stupid enough to buy it.

Here's an excerpt from one of the reports of 'accounting errors' re Ukraine funding. They were always lying and spinning so it's hard to say how much was 'given' Ukraine.

The recent GAO report scrutinized the methods used by the DOD to value these articles and found that the existing guidance was inconsistent and insufficient.

The GAO’s investigation uncovered that approximately 12 percent of defense articles provided under PDA were valued using methods not in compliance with DOD guidance. Additionally, about 61 percent of the reported values lacked appropriate supporting documentation, making it difficult to verify their accuracy.

I don’t think anyone was trying to hide it. I posted several times on the Kiel institute numbers, as they were reporting in the context of other funding sources. Its easy enough to check those. Download their spreadsheet.

“they ‘found’ another $14 Billion to give to Ukraine “

Found by changing inventory accounting for US equipment stocks. That certainly was and probably still is illogical and not up to civilian standards.

Fraud and waste in S/S and Medicare? Here’s a big one..... Biden Signed H.R. 7691
Qualifying Refugees From Ukraine TO CLAIM SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS

- H.R. 7691 was signed into law on May 21, 2022

- H.R. 7691 also opened pathways for Ukrainian parolees to access mainstream federal benefits typically reserved for refugees, like Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and Refugee Medical Assistance (RMA)
-

In October 2024, Biden’s DHS extended parole and work authorization for Ukrainians under the “Uniting for Ukraine” program, keeping them eligible for such benefits through 2025 and beyond.

Mainstream media reports confirm hundreds of thousands of Ukraine citizens are claiming American Social Security Benefits and never paid a dime into the system.

“I assume I was missing funds because of the intentional way reporting dispersed”

And other people were working on keeping it straight. “Reporting dispersed” because the MSM is staffed by idiots.

We are paying social security and medical expenses to Ukraine. All we had to do was count the votes properly in 2020, and throw Nuland and the other traitors in the hoosegow.

The amount of our money that was back channeled
For the return favor is the difference most likely
Also, are we getting any interest on this now to be remunerated unsecured payment.
May need to incorporate the other beneficiaries into the list of parties, (democrat and affiliates)

The Great war, we bailed out the euro pricks. Leading to WW 2, we pulled their asses out of the fire again. NONE OF IT WAS OUR PROBLEM. I say, if the EU aligns with The Ukraine and goes after Russia, we align with the Russians and say screw you to the pink sacks who force their young children to be overrun with Muzzies and the Darks.
