The Delta flight crew on board the jet that crash-landed and flipped over in Toronto was experienced and trained for such ordeals, the airline’s CEO said Wednesday — as he poured cold water on fears about mass Federal Aviation Agency layoffs under President Trump.
Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian praised the actions of the flight crew who quickly evacuated the plane when it crashed at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, insisting they were familiar with wintry conditions there.
“All these pilots train for these conditions,” Bastian told “CBS Mornings,” adding that “there is one level of safety at Delta.”

I love it when people who do not know anything about flying a plane come out with their snarky comments.
So the pilots flying the airplane are Captain James FO: Kendall. I believe this is Kendall on her Instagram. Does anyone know who Captain James is? It would be important to find out their qualifications and if #DEI had anything to do with this. #EndeavorAir #DeltaCrash pic.twitter.com/L9AGRz37Cx— Galaxydoc Market (@galaxydocmarket) February 19, 2025
This plane did flip to the Right after the right wing broke off and the left wing flipped it over the rest of the way!

The plane that crashed in Toronto was a Delta flight operated by Endeavor Air, a small airline obsessed with all-female “unmanned” flights

What a ride.
PTL they all survived.

I can’t what speed the plane was traveling, if it was too fast it will be easily determined by the black boxes, same does for the angle of the plane on descent, touchdown and how the flaps were deployed.
Experienced DEI hires?
Not sure you can have wind shear in those conditions. Besides, if it were wind shear they would have come in short. It came in fast and appeared to be above glide slope. I don’t see how it cannot be a huge pilot error but it is something I would not expect of a pilot of any reasonable skill level. We will have to wait and see the accident report.
Is there a Flight-Sim Function Key for that option?.............
Reminds me of a funny thing I saw when I was in college. My major was Aviation Management, and during a flight simulator class we were each individually flying a series of instrument procedures. This was on the old tabletop ATC 610 simulator, which only has steam gauge instruments and no visuals.
At the end of class, the instructor came around to each student and showed them their track plot. One kid flew a perfect track during the entire session. The instructor told him how great he did, except for one little thing… Pointing at the attitude indicator, he let him know that he had flown the entire flight inverted! It was pretty hilarious.
I think the landing gear collapsed on impact due to the (dangerous) speed and direction of said impact
You are correct, it appears in the video like the landing gear collapsed, causing the right side to dip hard and the wing to catch the ground and break off. The other thing that is very evident is that there was no attempt to flare the aircraft for the touchdown and landing.Tthey flew the aircraft into the ground at the rate of descent of that aircraft, which is absolutely crazy.
You’re pretty close to what an expert said. He added that the plane went through a cloud of snow which reduced visibility and hindered depth perception to ground and caused a hard landing. The hard landing caused the landing gear to fail and puncture the wing fuel tank which caused that brief fire.
He did mention that (he felt) the pilot should have aborted and gone around.
Experienced? Jimmi Hendrix piloting plane??
Video shows the pilot flew the CRJ into the ground with a slight crab angle trying to compensate for the crosswind. He did not flare at all which collapsed the right gear and the right wing separated next to the fuselage, and the good wing had lift and it rolled over. It would be rare to have a downdraft in a forty knot wind in cold temperatures. Up and down drafts are generally caused by wide temperature differences in slow moving blocks of air.
You both post the same thing within 1 second delay.
If it’s not a conspiracy, I don’t know what it is!
There are old pilots and bold pilots, but not many old bold pilots.
