CFPB and the Poison Pill (vanity?)
2/16/25

Posted on 02/16/2025 8:54:28 AM PST by EBH

This morning as I was driving to a client's home listening to the radio a very interesting explanation was being discussed.

Did you know the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau was not part of the Congressional Budget?

These darn communists actually had the Fed funding them. Apparently the CFPB is not a line item, but the government has to request a 'draw' for funding from the Federal Reserve Bank? The CFFB is now sitting on $700 million dollars and the Trump administration simply says they don't need this particular draw, so it is $0.00.

When Obama and Warren set this up this way they avoided ALL governmental oversight of the agency.

And the Supreme Court upheld this structure!!

Congress created the CFPB in 2011 to enforce federal consumer financial laws and protect consumers in the financial marketplace. Congress funds most federal agencies through the appropriations process but chose to fund the CFPB through the Federal Reserve to preserve its independence from the political process. The amount of CFPB funding is subject to a statutorily mandated, inflation-based cap.

The CFPB published the Payday Lending Rule in 2017 to protect consumers from predatory lending practices. Specifically, the regulation protects consumers from a lender’s multiple attempts to withdraw funds from their bank accounts, which can lead to additional fees and overdraft charges. Two trade associations representing payday lenders and credit-access businesses challenged the rule, arguing that it is unconstitutional because the CFPB’s funding mechanism is unconstitutional. They argued the bureau’s unique funding structure “usurps Congress’ role in the appropriation of federal funds,” violating the appropriations clause and allowing the executive branch to operate without Congress’ fiscal check on its power.

ONLY the Executive Branch can authorize funding the CFPB.

It was supposed to protect people from PayDay lenders.

But in reality, it is just another left wig slush fund that burdens citizens with more debt, while they run roughshod over the American citizens as they continue destroying this nation.

Yup. At the Executive level with no oversight at all.

Clearly the American people trusted the government for far too long and are grossly undereducated on civic duties.

For far too long we actually believed they were a benevolent force. Which is easy to do when your focus is on providing for your family.

What a difference one person can make.

Had it not been for Donald John Trump, we might still be lulled into believing in that mirage created for us.

It makes you wonder what Musk will find if he gets to investigate this agency. The Fed has become political and corrupt for many years. Once upon a time it was an independent Central Bank. Now it is part of the One World order and beholding to the Deep State.

"According to Thomas Jefferson (who likely borrowed the quote from others), “Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom.”

Jefferson meant, at least in part, that from a national perspective, freedom is not something that can be taken for granted. It is not just achieved once, but over and over again; indeed, as soon as a nation stops paying attention to freedom it will be encroached upon by threats from the inside as well as the outside. That means if a nation wants to be free, then the price for that freedom is being always on watch. Always on guard."

Unfortunately we turned the duty of "Vigilance" over to our free press and forgot about it. The free press has since been captured and enslaved by monopolies that are bought by billions of dollars of political campaign and giant company advertising and are far from free.

I thought it was to be funded from the EARNINGS of the federal reserve. The Federal Reserve is loosing money so that should end the funding.
Am I missing something?

But in reality, it is just another left wig slush fund that burdens citizens with more debt, while they run roughshod over the American citizens as they continue destroying this nation.

Many of those independent agencies would start out with a noble cause.

Once they've done that, they are forced to find ways to remain relevant. This is where the Left comes in the picture.

I wish that were the case, but this how we have been funding the left to destroy this nation from within.

The “federal reserve” is NOT federal in any way, shape or form except for the use of the word federal.

Oh it was absolutely from within.

But...why’d it take us so long? I look back at the TEA Party effort. Taxed Enough Already. And while it did bring us some candidates they ultimately struggled to execute any meaningful change. All the while Congress was still getting on board with the agenda...why? And even at this very moment the Republican representatives we have are not strong in their convictions yet. Instead their both like children when Daddy DOGE gets home.

The upcoming budget bill still is going to ADD to the deficit. And Congress is going to be like children stomping their feet because they won’t get their way.

Can you tell I still don’t trust them, even with good leadership.
