This morning, President Trump revealed he's rolling back efficiency standards on plumbing and light bulbs. You may feel like the lightbulb has been through a roller coaster of regulation changes ... and you're right.

Oh. Try a big heat sink and liquid cool it. Those things do get really hot.

LED lights rarely last their advertised life. I've probable had a couple of dozen or more different sizes and brands that required replacement more frequently than the incandescents that were there before them.. Even if you get those rated for an enclosed fixture, the electronics that drive the LADs tend to fail from overheating. The LED chips themselves are not the culprit in all of the failures that I had it was the driver electronics that went TU.

I would suggest you buy a Speed Queen top loader. That is what we did.

Since then they came out with a really basic machine. It has a dial to change the settings just like the old Maytags from the 1960s. It also comes without a lid lock safety feature. Which was such a problem item on mine that I finally disconnected it based on a hack I found on YouTube.

FYI, I also have a Speed Queen dryer with the dial only to change the settings. Other than that is has a push button to turn it on. It is really simple.

Thank God!

The LEDs tend to die earlier than promised and those Compact Fluorescents hurt my eyes and give me a headache!

Yes, something like that would work it’s just the lack of feed throughs to do it. Since the Kali commies were the first to ban incandescent bulbs we stocked up on flood lights when the hint of a federal ban was coming. The idiots here will never reverse their ban but that’s ok.

“The led bulbs don’t heat up the kitchen during the summer...”

I have eight 100-watters in my master bath, and before I switched to their LED equivalent it was sweltering after a shower in the summer (in Phoenix).

Just when I could not figure out what Trump should do next, he Trumps me...

Truman, Reagan, Trump: The only Presidents I ever liked...

FDR, Johnson, Obama, Biden: My #1 choices for photo range targets...

Carter, Clinton, Bush (both): My #1 choices for urinal targets...

I prefer my LED lights - but hey, if people want to waste their money on incandescent, that’s their right. They have their purpose - although I have no need for them!

Mr. Potatohead didn’t dream this up. GE & Sylvania did under 0’s reign. They could no longer compete in incandescents, so lobbied to get them banned.

There is no LED equivalent to a 3-way 50-200-250 incandescent.

Unsure this really matters much. At least not to me. I like the LED light bulbs.

Nice to have a choice though, don't you think?

I use my considerable stash of incandescent bulbs (which give off heat as well as light) to keep the chicken coop warm on freezing nights, and inside cinder blocks to keep the sheep's water unfrozen.

Sure, they're less "efficient", but they serve a purpose in my life, and I, for one, don't appreciate some politician in DC deciding what's "best" for me.

LED lights are vastly superior to any other light source. I have 5000 lumen day light white bulbs all over the house they beat hands down any 250 watt halogen ever made. 1500 lumen soft whites and day lights make up the rest. They last for years and don’t heat up the house in the hot Texas summers while using 1/4 the energy. I also have Wi-Fi controls multi spectral LEDs that change colors not only from.daylight to soft white but also red ,green or blue for mood or holiday lighting. Green on veterans day, blue for the whole month of autism awareness. Red on Valentine’s say.

The only thing incans do better is heat chicks brooding, or on sensor lights that cycle on and off every 30 seconds someone one walks into a closet or utility room the rapid cycling and low duty cycle is the only thing icans do well.

It’s just boomers being luddies that hate LED for no good reason other than to be old and grumpy. In reality they are superior in every aspect that matters. There is no flicker on modern bulbs they are DC powered, take you phone out go to 120 frames per second if you have a decent phone and record a modern LED light there won’t be so much as a flicker so the argument of light induced flicker head issues is moot that issue was solved years ago.welcome to the 21st century.

The lights on the range hood above my stove was equipped with halogen lights which were expensive and one would invariably burn out after 3-4 months.

Along come LED lights, a fraction of the cost and the bulbs have lasted for years. A win in this scenario.

What? In actual lumens this is an exact replacement for the bulb you describe. Wattage is not relevant to lumen output anymore in the 21st century. Your eyes are not linear in lumen sensitivity anyways.

We get it bro you don’t like being told what to do like a petulant toddler but some things are just better and LEDs are that they are superior in every aspect that matters bar none. Unless you are brooding chickens or heating rabbits or some such and there is dedicated heat lamps for that. I have some 250 IR brood lamps for the chicks and ducks they are black lens and heat without keeping them up all night.

If the manufacturers want to keep making incans I say let them but I doubt many will return to 1800s tech just because the USA decides to allow them. Specialty bulbs sure like oven bulbs that need to take 500F or rough service bulbs that see shock heat and vibration those will still be made also heat bulbs. Once manufacturers sunset their incan lines it makes little sense to build them again when only the USA and a small subset of that even want incans. This is largely symbolic as the industry has moved on.
