I had a Motorola Razor(my first Smart phone) get really hot as it was being charged on my desk here at work years ago.
I immediately took it to the Verizon store down the street and traded it in. It was about two years old and due for an upgrade anyway.
I got my first Google Pixel phone.
Now on my third.
I wonder though IF I had stuck it on the charger at home and went to bed like I normally do IF it could have gotten hot enough to explode/burn.
THIS is why I charge the 30 volt battery for my Stihl chainsaw out on the bench in my garage. I NEVER let it sit there on the charger overnight.
