Times are tough right now in the ‘egg game,’ whatever that is, because of this pesky bird flu. You heard of it? It's been going around for a while now, and really putting a dent in our livestock.
I assume it will be a raging pandemic at some point relatively soon that the left drums up to be the start of the apocalypse, but, you know, we'll see. For now, though, it's mainly impacting chickens. Which affects our eggs.
Which, in turn, affects our great food establishments across this great country.
Waffle House, earlier this week, announced a 50-cent surcharge on eggs because they're so damn expensive right now. Nasty move, but I get it. You gotta do whatcha gotta do.
Unless you're Cracker Barrel – AKA the GOAT of the breakfast game in America. Cracker Barrel would never pull such a move. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever.
Cracker Barrel has drawn a line in the sand My GOD. What a post. What a shot. What a restaurant.
"Egg surcharges? Never heard ot it. Order eggs and get double the pegs now through next Wednesday 2/12"
Hey, Waffle House – PISS OFF. Cracker Barrel proves, once again, why it was always be on top of the mountain in this business.
Now, am I a bit biased? Sure. I'm the unofficial (official) Cracker Barrel guy here at OutKick. Love this place more than I love my two kids. I grew up getting fat at the Cracker Barrel, and, while I don't get there as often nowadays, I still defend her to the death.
Great rocking chairs, great gifts if you like old country CDs and vintage candy – and who doesn't? – and great food. Sunrise sampler? Elite. The pancakes? Better the IHOP. The eggs? Well, come on. Clearly better than woke Waffle House!
And hey, now you get double the pegs with every egg order! For those who don't understand Cracker Barrel lingo, it's just their reward system. Yes, I'm confused by it, too. Yes, I also thought it was the sexual term at first. It is not. No worries!
Anyway, there's a war breaking out in the food & beverage game, and Cracker Barrel has drawn a line in the sand.
Pick your fighter, America.
However! WH brings entertainment to the table…all day brawls, crackheads looking for cash and all that goes with ‘the other side of the tracks’ society. You have a ring side seat to go with the eggs floating in their own pond of day old grease.
Like I said, most are in some real sketchy places. The one we go to is right off an exit of an interstate next to a McD’s and across from a chain gas station. Not deep off into the hood.
I didnt realize you needed a special kind of rocking chair just because you were queer?
I don’t know, but Google says there is one in Hilo on Kamehameha. I’ve never been. I like Moena Cafe for breakfast.

There was one CB in South Portland,Maine. It closed a few weeks ago. Covid and not able to attract help did it in.
Flavored corn syrup. I’m guessing you would not be kicked out if you brought real syrup in with you.
Try it. You’ll like it.
When we use to go to weekend Army Reserve Training in Ringgold, GA, we went to the local WH for breakfast and they always gave us free coffee.
When my daughter was in college I took her to a Waffle House for supper early one evening when I was taking her pack to campus after a weekend at home. She protested and wanted to go to a different place. I told her that “one visit wouldn’t hurt her.” We ordered supper and she got the “cheesey eggs” and that “hooked” her on it!
That was about 17 years ago and it has become staple for their breakfast when she and her family go shopping in the nearest town with a WH that is 20 miles from her.
I love being called “hon.” It is a nice friendly greeting.
That was Cracker Barrel. No rocking chairs in or outside at Waffle house. You get a choice of a booth or stools at the counter in front of the frying stove & waffle makers.
And with Waffle House you got a shoot out with real guns and real bullets between two groups of people every so often.
I guess I’m just lucky, I’ve never seen a brawl at a WH. However, I’ve never been at one between 2 & 5 am when those events seem to happen.
Also, I’ve eaten a numerous WH’s near interstate exits and have gotten good service and meals.
There are a lot of ways you could go with this.

Cracker Barrel still proudly displays their stupid LGBLOLBS+ rainbow 🌈 colored rocking chairs outside their businesses, 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️
and CB’s food truly sucks. Yuck !!
Although I don’t eat at Waffle House very often, but when I do, the food had always been very tasty and the employees had been very friendly.
except for one crazy waitress, close to Atlanta. (but that’s a completely different story for another day hahaha...) 😀
Oh, and I most definitely DID NOT “come up rough.” 😀
I wish we had one closer than an hour and a half drive.

Cracker Barrel used to be the GOAT. Not any more. They have eliminated old favorites from the menu and cut corners on what’s left. Brought in a bunch of new stuff designed to attract a younger crowd of people that wouldn’t be caught dead in a Cracker Barrel. On the breakfast menu, they used to serve actual maple syrup, now it’s “natural” syrup. Country cured ham used to be good, now it tastes like ordinary ham. On the dinner menu, they did away with their chicken & rice which my family loved. Recently brought back a different recipe that’s not as good. No more frozen mug sundaes.
Their hamburger steak used to taste like sirloin steak, now it tastes like a hamburger patty. Friday fish fry used to be cod, now it’s “white fish”. And they don’t pay squat, so every time you go they are breaking in a new cook and you get what you get. We used to be regulars, now go rarely.
