The Garden Thread - February, 2025
February 1, 2025 | Diana in WI/Greeneyes in Memoriam

Posted on 02/01/2025 6:55:11 AM PST by Diana in Wisconsin

The MONTHLY Gardening Thread is a gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.

If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.

This thread is a non-political respite. No matter what, you won’t be flamed, and the only dumb question is the one that isn’t asked.

It is impossible to hijack the Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go - and that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to/removed from our New & Improved Ping List.

NOTE: This is a once a MONTH Ping List, but we DO post to the thread all throughout the month. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time.

“Butt Nuggets” .... I had to laugh.

I have been looking on Amazon. Vendors there have a ton of cute ‘stamps’ that you can put on your eggs. Gonna do that to amuse Mom & Sis in the future.

When we sent ‘Weber’ to ‘The Spa’ I printed labels that said, ‘All Gave Some, Some Gave All - Weber’ and put those on the cuts of meat I shared with family that Christmas. ;)

Yeah, we all have that, ‘same sense of humor.’ ;)

Very simple appetizer you can serve anytime.
The affinity for ripe pears and blue cheese is phenomenal.

How to Grill 2 small very ripe peeled pears nicely brown, 5 min per side. Spread 1/2 c cr/cheese on 8 baguette slices. Top w/ grilled pears, blue cheese bits. Sprinkle with black pepper. Drizzle with honey.

Vary Top w/ Glazed Nuts: cover preferred nuts with sugar in skillet, saute w/ a bit butter til glazed.

I’m totally in love with this idea.

That’s why I WISH I had had the funny ‘chicken egg stamps’ to put on the two dozen I gave away, today. :)

Good way to get a chocolate fix and the sublime
taste of silky caramel in one delicious bite.

Just wrap balls of your best chocolate cookie dough
recipe around store bought caramels, then bake.
