I’ve had more winter than I can stand. I’m ready for spring. Now. lol
Previous repairs to livestock fountain are holding so far.
Red Menace is in the body shop - torn down, inspected, and parts are on the way. No damage found to frame or suspension components. I should have it back good as new in a couple weeks if RAM brand has all of the required parts in stock.
Nothing going on in the garden, but I’ve been thinking about it.
Better - still have a terrible cough & hoarse. Congestion is clearing & I am getting spells of energy instead of wanting to sleep all day.
Next week, after a couple of cold days, the temps should get into the 50’s. We have a Greenway nearby so I am looking forward to some walks in fresh air & sunshine, which will be good ‘medicine’.
I’m glad to hear you’re mending some. The fresh air, when you can get to it, will do you good.
Call us crazy. At least I will call us that. Today we both put on snow pants over our jeans to give us extra warmth for our daily walk. I wore thick wool socks, and good winter boots. Still my toes froze on our walk today. Maybe got 35 minutes in. Not 45-55 minutes as we usually do in better temps.
It’s a good time for hubby to decompress after his work day is over. Sometimes we talk about his work while we walk. Sometimes we don’t. Often our kids and whatever they’re going through is the topic. Sometimes it’s the news of the day. It’s always good to have a conversation with him. He’s my rock, and I’m his. We are so blessed.
Passing positive thoughts on to you and your Mama. Feel better soon, FRiend!
We always add a little mayo to our eggs when scrambling.
I can handle Winter through the end of February, but I’m really, really close to ready to see temps above freezing for the next 9 - 10 months as soon as the calendar says “March”.
No more 3 snows after the forsythia bloom. Just give me May through October temps ASAP.
I’m ready for crocuses and tulips already!
I’ve heard of that but have never done that. Makes sense though.
Sounds like a beautiful Mass!
I like to steam carrots then just lightly sautee in butter and some maple syrup with pecans chips. YUMMY
For two eggs just a silverware tablespoon heaping. Salt and pepper. Although I use homeade Lawrys instead of salt.
I’ll have to try that.
I’ll have to try that.
Beat well and they will be so creamy.
Very cold here & when the wind blows, it’s really brrrr! Snow day tomorrow & Thursday ... I will be making soup & staying warm. The snow shouldn’t be worse than 2-3” for our area so that’s totally manageable.
Pastor called today to check on us since mom missed 2 Sundays in a row & I was out the 2nd Sunday mom missed. As soon as she heard my voice, she knew why I had missed - not laryngitis, but hoarse. Hopefully, we’ll be back next Sunday, as long as I’m not coughing.
It was so beautiful! I still remember the church and sanctuary, only lit by candles everywhere. That was it. We did have musicians and a children’s choir, but the sound only echoed off the walls within. It wasn’t piped over microphones. It was stunningly quiet, dark, and out of this world. It felt so holy! I love remembering that Christmas!
Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try this sometime. I’m so used to added milk and/or water!
Yeah, near -20 wind chill is a bit much.
My favorite are ‘Whiskey Glazed Carrots’ by The Pioneer Woman. I only make them on a holiday, though. Her running commentary when she makes a recipe always cracks me up!

My chickens agree with that 100%.
Re: PW’s recipe .... I’ve been looking for an excuse to check out the local liquor store!
I have a pot of chicken soup (plus noodles instead of matzo balls) doing a final simmer. I had to get out my big 7 qt. cast iron/ceramic pot - the new 5.5 qt. was too small. Also, if I make this soup again, & I likely will, I will buy a package of organic bone-in chicken thighs instead of using a whole chicken.
I am worn out - maybe I will get a 2nd wind tonight to make the carrot soup I saw in my new monastery soup book. For today, I used one whole chicken for the soup, froze another whole chicken, & picked the meat off 2 rotisserie chickens ($2.02 each - I couldn’t resist). The coyotes & probably the neighbor’s cat will be feasting tonight on the 3 carcasses.
The main snow storm has passed & we are getting spotty showers. Looks like about 2” and I don’t expect more. Some snow showers tomorrow - perfect weather since I have more cooking to do. BTW, I love leeks and they are frequently used in the monastery soup recipes .... but they are SO expensive! Hopefully, the price will come down later this year.
